I want to buy a Stern "Pinball" 1977, but the Number 1 display (6 digits) don't reset to 0. Someone can tell me how to resolve this problem and where can I buy parts for this pinball?
I'm newbie in pinball repair.
Thanks!

From your other post, I understand this is the solid-state Stern Pinball model, and not the EM version.

Do you own a soldering iron, and do you have experience in soldering & proper board repair ?
If so, check this reference, it *usually* is a *very* easy fix
http://www.pinrepair.com/bally/index3.htm#display

You probably have either or both:
- cold solder joints under the header pins of the display for player 1, and/or
- one or more bad resistor(s) on that board. Often there is one or more bad 100K ohms.

Alternatively you could buy a complete working 6-digit Stern or Bally display unit.
post on MAACA, check http://www.mrpinball.com Classifieds, check eBay, and also rec.games.pinball.

Bonne chance!
- Sylvain.

Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron,
1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others.
Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for
one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!

Full information on how to diagnose and repair this problem can be found here:

http://www.pinrepair.com/bally/index3.htm#display

I suggest starting with "Preliminary Repair Step Three: Reflow the Score Display Header Pin Solder Joints."

As for parts... depends on what you need.

Playable Now: Centaur II, Doctor Who, High Speed. Playable Soon: Breakshot, Sorcerer Later: Flash, Genie, Seawitch Fondly remembered: Firepower

I have a 6-digit display you can have for $35 shipped or $25 if you send me your display as a trade-in. Let me know if you're interested.

Corey

PS. Stern Pinball is a great game. You're fortunate to have it.

I have a soldering iron and I have a little experience but I have friends that can help me.
I will verify before if it is the EM or SS version.
Thanks!
