Just back from a week in Disneyworld and got to play the new Indiana Jones pin (ho hum), and Pirates of the Caribean (good), and an Ultrapin Video Pinball for the first time. I have to say, the more Sterns I play, the more they seem to run together (kinda like EMS of the 60's) and share similar gimicks and playfield layouts. Didn't play IJ2 enough to really figure out the strategy, but didn't care to anyway (at least compared to IJ the first version). I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by Ultrapin. If I had a chance to get one of these I would, very good physics for a video pinball and really quite "interesting" as a kind of hybrid talking piece. Pirates appealed to my desire for straightforward, easy to understand goals in a pinball. Just thought I'd share. Didn't have access to MAACA for the entire week.... |
