Well, just got off the phone with them and: Just the pin, wrapped in saran and cardboard = $73.37 Pin on one of their skids = $166.60
sweet, now to decide if its worth the $90 for the skid |

Couldn't you just get a skid from a local big box retailer or something for free? They must be swimming in them. |

Its not the price of the skid that's $90...its the extra space the skid takes up in the truck that they charge extra for |

We can't GIVE skids away.. we just chop them up and burn them. |

I`m really surprised they will take it without a skid. Opens up the potential to damage from them dragging the game. Note to the buyer, pay the extra and get it shipped on a skid. Duane |

I agree. Get the skid and pay the extra. They will try to stack as much stuff on it as possible to maximize load. If it arrives damaged, you're screwed. No insurance. |

I shipped 2 machines WITHOUT skids, as per the buyer's request: He used NAVL and they were wrapped in blankets.
Now, my personal preference: CRATE / SKID
I'm positive there are alot of 'juicy stories' of machines arriving in...well...multiple pieces and MOST of them were not crate or on a skid.

The only time I had pins shipped with no skid or crate was when I moved. And I was there to watch them load and unload them from the truck. Other than that, it's at least a skid with cardboard and wrap. Crating is the ultimate but it can be dropped too so there's no guarantee.

That's strange, guess its too late, but Maritime Ontario never charged anything extra for a skid, they preferred to put the pins (in cardboard and pre shrink-wrapped is how I have done it) on their skids for you (and then wrap them again) as it makes it easier to load the trucks, even if they pack more than one persons items on the skid... they keep the skid at the other end. Maybe it depends what terminal you work out of. |
