I'm new to the pinball world. I have a 1979 Atari superman pinball.  The lights come on but no action.  Just wondering if anyone out there can be leaned on for advice.  I have an electrical backgrond and I have a Bally Mata Hari which I have been working on, I understand the bally basics with respect to schematics.  I just got my hands on a superman machine and schematics; I have a feeling I have my work cut out for me.

Some advise and guidance would be great.

All the fuses check out fine.  I'm also getting a solid LED indication on all the back box boards. I just purchased the machine from a guy in Toronto. Nice guy; the pin has been sitting unused for 15 years.  I would really like to see it fully functional. The Atari schematics are throwing me for a loop.

Not to scare you, but Atari Pins are pretty much as bad as it gets restoration wise. They have a bad reputation. The guys here will help as much as we can, for sure, but I think you're in for a ride.

It was HUO for around 20 years. It's still not functional. On purchase, I was told the problem was a bad fuse or loose wire. The problem is much deeper than that, but I'm still satisfied with it. I have "Mr. Atari"helping me out with the troubleshooting.

http://www.mr-atari.com/

I'm hoping to have it fully funtional by end 2010. It is my new year's resolution.

The pics are not the greatest. Best I can do with one arm.

Oh nice pin and a HUO. Did you check the power supply voltage to mpu ? Maybe bad caps, connectors, basic things to check when starting with a dead pin.

I checked up the PCB and all the basic power distribition checks out fine. My problems lies in the PCB.  I have to troubleshoot my way through the MPU, and the clock and watchdog circuitry to (hopefully) find the fault.

It's on hold right now. I have broken my arm and using my meter is just not in the books for a few months.

An early Steve Ritchie design too! I've never played one (aside from Visual Pinball) but seems like a decent game. Good luck!
