wow ... you mean it's the CV board ?!
i don't want to jinx it but hopefully sometime next week Clive tells me the board is functional and finally free from the Gaucho Artisans loving touches. whoda thunk that if i would have waited 5 years to restore CV, it would be cheaper and less trouble get sound. the moral of the story (for those unaware the long saga behind the gaucho CV i got from jeremy wilson which we couldn't plug in that day at the public storage) is that the game booted back in montreal but with no sound.. i notice there's a broken pin on the dsp chip.. instead of demanding a cash refund for the broken av board, i figured that board was repairable. so phil & i strip the game to send playfield out to bill davis. i go through absurd torture to track down DSP chips ($115) and have an electronics place wave solder it in ($55).. still no freaking sound when we put the board in phil's AFM. oh, i and i forget the fun moment, when phil swaps in his board back into AFM. then his AFM absolutely refuses to boot. i mean like, no logical reason why it's completely dead no matter how many reboots or what phil does.. then in the morning, his AFM returns to normal.. good times.. good times.. WPC95 is only for the brave.. hopefully wayne delivers some asics in the comming weeks, so nobody should have to axe another NBA or Congo to keep their game running. |
