As if I needed more work, I have decided to build a 60-in-1 which will be auctioned off for charity. As some may know, my mother and I have been actively helping the Basset Hound Rescue Quebec (BHRQ) for years now.
Helen, who runs the BHRQ on her own time and money, has saved dozens of basset hounds and other close breeds from multiple shelters and kill shelters (where dogs are sent to be gassed) across North America. we were a foster home for a long time until we adopted Mozart from Helen. And if there weren't a 3-dog max rule in my city, I would have more.
Anyways, back on subject, Helen does an auction every year to help raise funds for the Rescue, and I have decided to build a 60-in-1 for her to auction off in late April. Here will be the specs of the machine:
- Completely refurbished arcade cab - New 19'' LCD monitor - New 60-in-1 board - custom cab art (I could use a volunteer here... I suck at Photoshop) - Magstik, 3'' trackball - working coindoor - 1 year warranty on ALL parts
Of course, the machine art will be themed for the BHRQ, i tribute to Helen's work and all of the dogs she has saved. as I have stated before, if anyone wants to contribute and help me with the art, you are most welcome to contact me about it. I can offer you some playfield work or arcade work in exchange, as I am footing the bill for this entire machine. Call it a swan song if you will, as this will be one of the last machines I build, other than the jobs left, which are dwindling down. I figure I would leave the hobby on a selfless note. Besides... my dogs have given more to me than people can imagine. They are family. I just want to give some back.
So I will post details on the auction as I get the details. Starting bid will most likely be around 750$. Well below the value of what they normally go for.
So keep an eye out for more news. Bid on a machine and save a few dogs' lives in the process. I figure it is a pretty good reason to buy a machine.
Well, I have an idea... with the sudden donations of a few members, the machine built for the charity auction will be built with anyone donating as an official contributor for the charity. I will make sure that every single donator will have their names on the machine as part of the MAACA team.
OK, so this project is moving along. I basically have everything but 2 things... the cab and the art. I should be picking up the cab next week. So... I need art.
Since I am footing the bill on this, and money is near non-existant, all I can offer is my skills. So to anyone that wants to design a marquee, bezel, side art and control panel overlay for a cab, I can offer a free clearcoat on a playfield, a value of 250$.
I will have dimensions for art as soon as I have the cab and I then design the control panel. There are only the following prerequisites for the machine:
2- Charlie's picture has to be somewhere on the machine. Doesn't matter if it is altered or not. As long as it is there.
3- The BHRQ logo has to be on it.
4- On the side art, there must be a mention to all that have donated to MAACA in the last month (and still can...). Something like this: Built by Sparky's Pinball Regenerations, with the help of (names). It can be written in small print, as long as donators get recognized.
The rest is up to the designer.
So... anyone interested? Here is Charlie's pic... I can send a higher rez pic if needed.
sorry to hear that no one is stepping up to the plate. I can do photoshop but not to the level you are looking for. It would take me too long, besides I have never designed side art. I learn as I go.
C'mon people I am sure someone has the skills and a bit of time
Well not too many volunteers I guess. I'll tell you what, do you have old templates of what you want done, if I recall right you had a bevel you had modified etc. If you have old templates of what you are looking for or not I will give it a shot. No money, I will do it for fun and for the charity you work for. I can't make promises since this may end up going nowhere but I will give it my best.
Feel free to fire me anytime by finding someone better but since I was able to design my own backglass I will put my limited skills to work. Let me know if you accept my application
