I've been searching for a reasonably priced HK ship for a while now.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA.....mp;_trksid=p3907.m29
Found this on Ebay tonight and just as I was going to hit the BIN button I see 'only ships to US'.
I really hate when that happens.
I suppose I could send an Email and try to convince him to ship it to Canada but I'll be dammed if I'm gonna beg somebody to take my money... Guess I'm petty like that

Adam

It's not begging, he probably doesn't realize Canada exists! Now if you are not willing to give money to someone like that, then that's another story.

That's funny.  I ask before bidding on US only items all the time (even though I also have a US delivery address).  Mention my 100% 100+ rating on eBay and most sellers say "sure, why not, eh!"  (It doesn't hurt to offer a free Tim Horton's Glazed Maple and a Double Double, too. Keep that under your hat, I dont' want it generally known that Canadians are not the scam artists that we are painted to be).

Ditto what Websherpa said. I have rarely had a US seller turn me down who initially said they would only ship within the US. You won't know if they are even willing to ship to Canada unless you ask. I don't consider that begging them to take my money. My 0.02.

That seller is probably still trying to figure out how you got 110V in your igloo.

You're probably right... It's just sometimes I want to be able to buy something without jumping through hoops. I don't want to check to see if the seller will make exceptions on shipping, I don't want to give geography lessons, or Email the same question for a third time because they've still failed to answer it, or ask for more photos because the ones they sent are blurry.... etc

Most of the time it's not an issue, I guess I just had my 'cranky' pants on yesterday. I also realise that this is my problem, not the sellers. He's going to sell his items whether I bid or not, so in the end I'm only hurting myself.... But hey that's what makes me so darn adorable

When you say" he probably doesn't realize Canada exists! " I believe it! I was just in Tennessee coming back from Florida, and as usual I caught some sorta flu bug, so I stopped at a "Wallgreens" to buy some Advil Cold & Sinus, which they lock down tighter than bullets, anyways I had to show ID to be able to buy them. The girl behind the counter in the Pharmacy spent almost 10 minutes looking at my Ontario drivers license, she then went in the back room for a couple more minutes and came back to the counter. She asked what state Ontario was in, I explained it was in Canada, she looked at me with a stupid look and asked where that was.....this is the girl behind the counter that fills prescriptions!!!

The main reason for this problem,is "US Only", is the default setting on Ebay, so you have to actually go out of your way to say where else you will ship. The default should be changed to World Wide, themn you have to change where you won't ship.

I'm sure there are a few people in Tennessee who couldn't tell you where Buffalo or Cleveland is let alone Canada!
Canadians are constantly bombarded with american culture (tv, movies, food, pinball, etc) but most americans who don't live in border states get very little info about Canada or its culture so its more about ignorance than stupidity.
When I was a youngster I learned more about Canada because I was into hockey then what I learned in school.  Glad I did because I love Ontario and the people here.  Not a big fan of the bone chilling cold and all this freaking snow though.

You sir, have just hit the nail on the head... I lived in the US for a year and was constantly amazed at how little was known about Canada.
You know the funny thing about America... It's the little differences. Similar enough that you'd think it would be the same as Canada but just different enough to make you feel out of place. Well, that's how I felt anyways, always uncomfortable.
I think the technical term for it is 'The Royale with Cheese factor'.

That's exactly how I feel about being in the USA as well. There's just enough small differences between home and anywhere I've been in the USA to make me feel a little creeped out. I grew up near the border and we cross-border shopped a lot when we were growing up, and it has always felt like that to me.
