I ran across this auction in Ebay, and I thought it might be funny to comment on this one... not usually my style, but you know... it's almost New Year's...
If the seller is part of this site, please let me offer a few helpful hints and tips:
1- There are only 2 people in CanadAa that like Genesis... me and RedFive... and he bought my old Genesis!
2- I sold my old Genesis with reconditioned boards for 350$... so I believe that you may be a bit off on the price (just an opinion!!!). The book has it at 500$ though!!! ... but not 1850 unfortunately...
3- Pickup only in Iroquois Falls is a bit restrictive market-wise... (Iroquois Falls is WAY north, in the whereabouts of Cochrane and Timmins...).
I actually thought of offering 150$ for it, since seller is working with offers rather than bids... but I think I have a better chance of buying back my old one!!!
same guy who had a lot for sale or trade for hockey cards. guy just doesn't get it. more then just me have email the guy on his collection. told him price and all. but he must really want to keep the games. i don't mind GENESIS but still, there has been quite a few for sale lately and you think he would have done alittle research and saw the prices.
I've talked to him wayyyy back and he 'supposedly' got skrood by someone in the London area as he paid "Premium Plus" (and no, I'm not talking about the crackers) for these pieces of junk (Genesis, Wild Fyre, Spring Break, Disco Fever and another crappy game).
I wants them out of his place, but not for 'market value'...
However, if you have hockey cards...he might cut you a deal...NOT!
I guess that they will be in Iroquois Falls (near Timmins, not Cochrane) for a while...

Although you could always have a game shipped, I suppose someone NEAR Iroquois Falls might want to pay that kind of money if they had no other choice....
....as far as I am concerned, you can't really "scr*w" someone unless they want to be (penetentiary excepted). Newbies pay market price or higher all the time, and dealers, even used amusement dealers count on it. It's just that one gets wiser when one finds a group of people like MAACA that can show you how to value something, let you try things out, and also trade within a low hobbyist margin just to be, well, nice to other hobbyists.
I'm certain that if I wanted to sell one of mine for "money" I'd choose places to market it where the general public looks, rather than say on MAACA, but the asking price should be no insult to other collectors.
What I do like about high asking prices sometimes is that it scares away the collectors, but sometimes if you go in with a realistic bid and an explanation, the seller wises up and accepts the offer with little competition.
