Might as well start posting on it since I have already talked about it...
I got a Showcase Namco cab a while back (thanks again AlienAgent!!!) and I have been writing down a few ideas... and now I am gathering parts.
Here's what I have:
- all the necessary joysticks - the cab - aluminum Diamond Plate - 650W soundsystem with Mission speakers (but I might tone this down...) - hydraulics - remote-controlled solenoid system - plasma tube - blacklight system - sound-reactive lighting system - Starchoice HDTV receiver
What I am looking for:
- a completely dead pin for donor parts (just the cabinet part is enough... no backbox needed) - a 37'' LCD TV with fast response time or possibly even two if I get a twin-monitor Pinmame or Future Pinball working - a Star Wars type yoke - a nice steering wheel (could be USB-PC style or off a cab) - light guns (but if I use these, I have to stick with the 33'' CRT and I cannot hook up the dish to it...) - any old dead consoles with joysticks (I mostly need the joysticks... I can build my own ports) - a frickin-fast CPU
Now there is NO RUSH on any of this... this will be my long-term project. But when I will be done, this thing should freak the living crap out of anyone... I am going all-out on this one.
So how do hydraulics equate to "cool" in this situation?
Does a hand reach out and smack you upside the head if you f*** up while playing?
OK... think of the control panel... it can open up, and once opened up, there is a gauge cluster on the bottom of it which now is in front of you, and a steering wheel raises up from inside the CP pedestal.
And on top of that, simply pull a regular chair up to the CP pedestal and you can tilt it down towards you in order to play in a seated position.
