Actually Jim is part of the 24/7 Intervention club, he's constantly in a state of intervention!!
Nah but seriously Jim, yeah I played it for a bit once and being that it's not even finished and lacks some features why bother...do the right thing...give your money to Tro erhm buy machine with a better resale value....and give it to Tro erhm you'll be much happier in the long run...
I'd buy it, I like the game. A buddy of mine has a HUO one he bought direct from the Williams Factory during the fire sale. I've played it quite a bit and I really enjoy the game. Not to deep but really fun humor, I really like the unique quick draw mode with the drop targets. The wizard mode is fun and I personaly find it a fun game to play.
Is it worth the money, not really but if you like the game like I do, that is what you are going to pay because that is the price the game commands. For $7000 US and with the strength of the CAD I'd buy if I had that kind of money to spend. But I don't so I won't be buying one myself anytime soon.
I'll leave you with one quote from the game that I still laugh at evey time I hear it - "Lock is lit, and so am I!"
It only has a following because of its perceived rarity and "collectibility".
It's a showroom pin..., a conversation piece, more for braggin' than playin'
Then again, I want a Joust for exactly those same reasons... (...but my vanity stops at a certain price ... )
You have to decide "why" you'd like this pin and what it's worth to you. If it's just for playing it, $7G is WAAAYYYY too much. But if you're building a pinball museum, it might be more easy to justify...
well, $7,000 can be a lot or a little. if that kind of money was disposable for me and i had the space, i'd get one. it's a late model WPC that doesn't suck.
while i did recommend not to buy it jim, i was assuming $7,000 means the same to you as it does to me. that was a faulty assumption and i recommend you make the choice. i'd haggle it down though, 7k seems steep even for a nice one.
"If a movie is described as a romantic comedy, you can usually find me next door playing pinball." -George Carlin
Thanks for the great response guys!! I was offered it yesterday and definitely would have a hard time spending that kind of money on one machine, but I seriously didn't know that it was Bally's last machine and that was the main reason for its high value. I was leaning towards passing anyway, but now its a DEFINITE pass. I have the 6 I want for now..only a nice Champion Pub would knock one of them out. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!
If your a serious WPC collector you have to own this pin at the going rates. Still on my list. It's a great game. If you try to equate $ to simply play value none of the high roller games add up. If you have the cash I would go for it IMHO.
I bought mine and have never regretted it. It is super nice, and everyone who plays it here likes it. Is it the hardest game out there? Of course not, Is it the fastest game out there? Nope, is it Fun? Yup, Have you had one before?? Nope! That alone says you should buy it!! hehehe
I paid large for mine, and I would do it again, It is rare and Fun, unlike other games with the same production run. The unfinished software is no big deal, I think Congo has the same kind of unfinished feel.
Go buy it, You might not make $$ if you resell it, but you shouldn't lose to much either.
Oh, And it is probably top 3 games for trade bait!! You would definitely get great trade out of it!
Dave
