Stats?  Ok.

Reg season, avg shots on goal:
Pitt: 32.8 (4th overall)
Ott: 29.7 (18th overall)

5-5 Goals for/against:
Pitt: 1.07 (9th overall)
Ott: 0.88 (26th overall)

Before the game got out of hand, the penalties were 7 for Pit, 8 for Ott.  So Pit has an extra 2 mins man advantage, by your stats that's an extra 0.4 of a goal.  How do you account for the other 2.6 goals?

Its all about when penalties are/arn't called...stats don't show the moments when the teams are just starting to battle back, get a goal, change the momentum of the game, then get a B.S. call against them. The whole game changes at that moment.
Later on, when nothing is happening, the refs will call a "make up" penalty against their favorite team. So, in the end they can justify that the amount of calls where "even".

Speaking to the "yeah, but in my kids peewee games, calls are missed all the time". Yeah, I'm sure they are...but this is the NHL! The best of the best in the reffing profession. Not only that, but this is the playoffs in the NHL. These are the best refs of all the refs in the league. There is no excuse for the pitiful job they are doing right now. Well, there is one excuse....its fixed/rigged

You can't look at just the total penalties.   Its the calls and the momentum changing aspect of the calls.   Case in point, the first penalty against Kelly.   It was an after the whistle face-wash kinda roughing penalty.   Sen's had the momentum and this pathetic call stopped the momentum and pens scored.   Now Ottawa is behind and must adapt.   There were so many non-calls / bad-calls going against the Sens, that the Sens have to defend differently.   Watch clips of Foligno trying to skate with the puck, he's hacked, hooked, chooped and no calls.

Its an opinion obviously.   Are the Pens a better team?   Sure, 100% agree.   Does the NHL or referring somehow help ensure the Pens success?   I'm not convinced 100%, but I would say, that beyond a reasonable doubt the NHL influences the outcome.

Ok, so Kelly takes a penalty, they lose momentum.  Four minutes later, they take another penalty and get scored on.  So it that second penalty a direct result of a penalty 6 minutes ago?  Never mind that there is now an intermission, 20 minutes to stop play, does Pit still have momentum?  They must, because they score 3 more goals before the next penalty.

It's the same crap you heard down here when the Leafs (all the way back then) were in the playoffs ... refs out to get us ... crap ... are some officals better than others ... sure ... do they miss calls .. yep ... for both sides ... could there be some bias .. for sure but those on the short end (like the leafs fans) always come up with a reason that they aren't getting a fair shake (and yes I'm a leaf fan but leaf FANS make me ill)

Meh....your missing the point. Everyone in Ottawa/The World knew that the Sens would not get past the Pens in the playoffs. No sour grapes on that one.

Its sour grapes on the poor/suspect calls league wide.

But that has gone on forever ... not just this year ... back in 92/93 ... back in the 80's .. forever that is the point ...

and if you know that the Sens weren't going to win what does it matter ??

If you want to post which refs are decent before a game that is one thing but in hind site and with the natural bias that everyone has of course the big bad refs are out to get you or they are ruining the game. In the playoffs their screwups are highlighted to a much larger extent and because it is win or done that leads to all this conspiracy crapola, I don't think I've heard many if any fans from a winning team go on and on about the hack officals ..

Try the video with the pic of Bettman, in the 2nd bar of videos, called "facing the critics"

Guilty?  No.  Embarrassed?  Yes.

You can have complete confidence in the integrity of the people making the decisions, but also think that they are complete idiots.

I don't have confidence in the integrity of the people making the decisions...I'm not sure they're idiots...they're just slimy businessmen trying to sell a product.
