I think there's a magnet on the backboard of the net. So, I imagine that you shoot up the ramp and the magnet makes sure it goes in the net. Or maybe its just a target....

You sure it isn't an elaborate hoax? I mean the guys site is called "toddisbored.com"
Never read through it all but on initial pass it has all the indicators of being a hoax. That and the fact who in their right mind would bother to make an NBA licensed game again?.... oh wait we are talking Stern here aren't we....

The NBA theme makes total sense for the fact that they are going to try and break into the asian market with this machine and the NBA is HUGE in asia right now with that you ming guy.
Either way I was hoping this was a hoax but it looks real, only way this theme could be worse is if it was Big Buck Hunter which was another runored theme.
They're so many other themes that could have been used instead... take the Jonas Brothers for example...

I'm not looking forward to this machine at all.
CSI and 24 (IMHO) were not good licenses either. I actually prefer the NBA license. I am sure it will do better than Gary's NFL pinball venture.

At this point, how could it be? Unless this guy has some pretty Godlike Photoshop skills, this is definitely an actual machine. Whether or not it's an unused prototype remains to be seen

You know what I'd really like to see in a new pinball machine? An original idea for a theme, not a license. I know they have a history of license themed machines going back to the DE days and they do it to try and capture a larger market, but there's got to be a good, original idea for a pinball machine out there somewhere.

There are no new players. Most kids/teens don't even know what a pinball machine is. The only way to attract them is by having the machine "look" familiar and you get that with themed machines.
Sad but true.

I'm new, kind of. I only got into pinball a year and a half ago. Would I have pumped quarters into a pin before buying my own pin? I have no idea since I hadn't run across one in the wild for at least a decade.

You never played them as a child or grew up playing in arcades?

Maybe once or twice, but video games were soooo much COOLER!
Seriously, when I decided to get into pinball in late 2007 I posted here, got invited to tuborg's who showed me his machines. At first I didn't even know how to start a game, I figured it out quickly (don't think he noticed), but it took some looking.
Although, I have been a big fan of video pinball for a recent while. I loves me some Metroid Pinball! I've also noticed that Pinball video games still sell well. The 360 game has been a big success, and the same guys announced a brand new game for the PS3. There's also a bunch on the iphone, some are pretty neat. If there's any hope to get people into pinball, it's through video pinball.

I was the exact opposite growing up, I played way more pinball than video games, I always felt that I got more of my quarter's worth out of a pinball machine. They were a little harder to find back in the day than vids were, but I pretty much knew where every machine was in my home town when I was growing up.

i grew up on video games as well, the arcades I spent time in had pinballs but I was more interestead in the arcades.
But that is the diffrence, there arn't even arcades anymore for anyone to get that exposure, a passing fancy for pinball just doesn't hold it anymore, they need that imediate draw that the license can bring.
Thaaaaaat's a little creepy.. is that Glen in that picture?
I shoulda put Gary's face on the girl's body.
