No sales, no parts, and you have to put quarters in the machines to play..  If you're not into the whole tournament thing then don't waste your time!!

Chicago is about the same time frame..

Whatever class will be having a TZ in the lineup, then you can triple LITZ it in their face !

Well, there is a good chance of at least 1 LITZ! If I play focused, I end up LITZing every 3rd game or so...

I'm player 106, this will be my Third tournament.

As for what class to go in, I would suggest C for your first tournament.  Just so you get a feel for how things are run, the skill level of the players.  If you place 1 - 4 in the C division they force you into B anyway next year.

I'll be in B as I placed 4th last year.

With how many extra balls?

How wide are your outlanes?

What it your tilt like?

Is the machine on tournament mode?

The rules for PAPA are drastically diffrent then any of the tournaments you guys run.

No extra balls, usually the hard or medium rule set will be installed.  Full open out lanes, tight tilts and then just the pressure of having to play well across 5 machines.

Also the machines are kept in pretty decent shape, but are not up to home use standard.

PAPA is a tough tournament.  but I enjoy the hell out of it.

Sparky, I second that...go in the 'C'... even the 'C' is hard...

I was thinking about the 'B' as I knew some of the machines very well, but after I saw the qualifying scores, some of them were higher than my PB one of them, which included many extra balls and 'not fully open' outlanes.

Most of the 'Fab 4' should be there (if not all of them)

With how many extra balls?

Of course they help, but half the time I manage LITZ on 3 balls or less.

How wide are your outlanes?

Factory config.

What it your tilt like?

Of little consequence... I never tilt. Ask anyone who has played with me. I aim my shots therefore make my own shots... not react to what I get. Easier that way, but it can often cause the opposite effect.

Is the machine on tournament mode?

Like I said, no extra balls have no effect. But yes, I have managed LITZ in toutnament mode. Even managed it twice on one ball in a game, but that was a freak occurence.

The rules for PAPA are drastically diffrent then any of the tournaments you guys run.

I don't doubt it... I don't expect to go there and win... just to have fun.

No extra balls, usually the hard or medium rule set will be installed.  Full open out lanes, tight tilts and then just the pressure of having to play well across 5 machines.

The last statement is the key. this is where I will have a hard time, as my experience with newer machines is limited.

Also the machines are kept in pretty decent shape, but are not up to home use standard.

The key there is play, play and play some more! Takes a few games to get the feel of the machine itself and to see how it reacts.

... besides, I have no illusions... no way in hell that I can compete with the A-boys...

Brigitte and I are tossing around the idea of going, just to play some games that will probably be in good shape.  We figure that if you are just coming to spectate since that's free then we can spend a rough equivalent of a registration fee in quarters playing nice games.

Neither of us are really tournament type folks...

Post rehash... just checking if there is still interest in this. I am trying to convince some to go, but nothing concrete yet. Anybody reserve a hotel room? Definitive plans done? Let me know!

My plans are all set in stone.

Heading out at about 5 - 6am on the Thursday we'll be in Pittsburg at about 11 - 12 which is when the doors open.

I've booked the Extended stay Americia that is on the PAPA site, it was about $70 a night, there are cheaper hotels but they are further away, this thing is only about a 3 min drive from the facility, I stayed there mt first time to PAPA not bad rooms and the price isn't bad, I also think PAPA runs a shuttle there at least they did when I was there last time.

I'll be in B division as I'm forced out of C for comming in 4th last year.

I'm going with 2 other friends of mine from TOPL plus another guy from TOPL should be comming out on Sat, but he's in A division.

I'm really looking forward to this, I love PAPA, best pinball tournament that exsits right now.

I think I'm player 102, I can't remeber
