Theres an opening at my company..we make children s television (not pornos ) - the opening is basically a Personal Assistant come odd job person. Tasks are mundane to the bizarre.
My PA is leaving later in the month and I need to replace him. I`m thinking a replacement who is able to do low level maintenance on pins and or arcades would be advantageous given the size of the games room.
Being a PA position/come odd job person salary is not high end... hey... not even mid end.
If you know anyone who can drive and might fit the vague description above pass them this email and ask them to send a resume along with salary expectation to waybuloo@hotmail.com
Human Resources is looking in the proper places and I thought I`d try in the inappropriate places
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone
You don't make porno? And by your email I gather you've had a hand in Waybuloo?
Wow, never have I gone from total admiration to total dislike for a guy in one simple post.
Hey, come on now. Be nice! Haven't we ALL made a porno at some point in our lives?

Its funny cause something that cause real big fuss is the crystals....I designed the sun dial so I know its zero religious. All it is is a music box that cranks up when sun hits it...so the crystals seemed a good way to explain why the machine warmed up and make the music when they hit the bamboo.

Waybuloo, (producers in Toronto)...oh I'm with you on this one, what a load of crap that show is ... and a rip off (spin off?) to boot.
Quoted Text
WIKI: The program makers describe it as "...a philosophy for a happy life, and is like nothing children will have ever seen before"[5].
Uh, yeah, we saw it before ... it was called "Teletubbies"
At LEAST that show had enough class to have a Gay character.
Television for babies, what a load of rubbish. Sorry Donnie, calls them the ways I see them, hope you don't take offense. But I was a film & tv producer once; so having produced enough god aweful shows and corporate videos, and having done some animation production with people from Nelvana, and having been in International Sales at Alliance Atlantis, I realize sometimes its just all about making a living, and not about the integrity of the project. !

Too bad the porn fantasy was dismantled.....
Cummon Wayne .... Your entitled to your opinion but if your industry time is long served I`m surprised to see such a reaction. I dont know anyone in the industry nowadays who would see the pre school sector the way you do.
To say we couldn't enjoy making the show and do so only to make a living perhaps says more about your industry experience than mine. I know the people who make it happen totally love making it and seeing the viewers reaction to it.
I genuinely get a kick out of seeing how kids react and having two sons I know they do NOT react the same to all shows.

Hallucinogenic Drugs are popular too, that doesn't make them smack. (oh, well, I guess it does....)
My 6 and 9 year old and I turned it on by mistake one day and the 9 year old left the room fake puking, my 6 year old turned to me, shrugged his shoulders and wrinkled his nose (which means, turn the channel immediately please), and I was stuck watching it totally mesmerized (mostly at how utterly useless it was). Maybe I'm too "old school" but I'm not keen on kids watching TV (particularly without dialogue) as an alternative form of social development anyway (I will admit to watching Sesame Street as a kid back in the golden age of TV - maybe that's why I talk way too fast now).
I know parents who left their littlest ones in front of those Einstein videos and I could only reckon that as a form of neglect and abuse. But that's me.
Yes, six and nine are not the target age - although sixes do watch. I`m making another show they will like more. Its on Teletoon in Canada at the start of next year and is a cross between Stargate and Arnies the LAST ACTION HERO. Portal to different worlds found in a cinema where the cinema villains have been sucked off the screen and cause havok in the worlds. Also small sections in 3D with glasses.

It's too bad Teletoon doesn't come with basic cable (damned CRTC not allowing us to "pick and choose") ... we've been going toward OTA freedom (for the summers anyway)... but I miss Space Network, and the kids miss Teletoon retro. Of course, the one channel my SO couldn't live without (Food Network) we get. GO figure.
One funny, we've been watching a lot of OLN because the 9 year old, James, is into ghosts... well he goes around singing the "Cialis" songs (Mornings are my favourite time of day) without actually knowing what it is about and that gives our friends and his teacher a chuckle.
I've kept my kids somewhat "innocent" as far as media goes, well the first one, anyway. James spends most of his time outside, rain or shine.
I'm sure you'll get someone to fill that position soon.
Why do we need new shows for really young kids? It's not like they're "bored" of the old shows, they're new to the world. If a show is a hit for 2 year olds 20 years ago, why not today?
Have
Want
-The Getaway: High Speed II!! -Spider-Man -F-14 Tomcat -Guns N' Roses -Lord of the Rings -Twilight Zone
-Medieval Madness! -Indiana Jones (Williams) -Star Trek: The Next Generation -Champion Pub -Terminator 3 -Congo -Johnny Mnemonic -Tales of the Arabian Nights

It's called "economy" and "commerce" ... the "New and Improved" syndrome started by the soap and cereal industries to mass consumers. Think of it as trying to figure out new ways to sell more of the same old thing (crappy children's tv, rendered pig fat, and grain waste products) to consumers so they don't feel "stuck in the past."
Me, I like Red River cereal and wash my hair with gravel. But then I'm an odd sort of bloke. (But I actually did like Wonder Pets, at least there's meaningful dialogue ... isn't it getting long in the tooth yet?)

I understand that, but children don't have a concept of "new", do they? They haven't experienced the old yet. The whole world is new to them. Makes you wonder who the show's are designed for, the children or the parents.

Partly both, parents control what is watched, and the advertisements that are shown supposedly influence buying decisions, whether directly to the parent watching along with the child (we almost always watched shows with our boys under 4 years old), or indirectly via the child "I want, I want, I want!"
The Producers of children's television mistakenly believe they are "doing good" - and I suppose by chance they are (if nothing they are entertaining and teaching media studies...), but shows are really made by the Networks, and Networks sell shows to advertisers.... so whatever McDonalds thinks is a good children's program - gets aired.

Google the word PVR. It does wonders and even can eliminate commercials! My kids always wonder why they can't skip commercials at their grandparent's houses (or pause the feed).

Actually, we're on HTPC now, just finished testing OTA (~ 20 channels from Waterdown), weaned down our Cable to basic ... so we're well on our way. Love the PVR function of Windows Media Center, and we have a stack of Star Trek episodes (from all season) on the HD waiting to be watched.....
I do find, however, that as much as I love PVR, my family hasn't quite got used tot he concept yet, and would rather surf to see what's on at the moment, than pick and choose what they want to watch from the future listings.... I'm still trying to show them the beauty of commercial skipping. They're still learning, one day.... (PS: I love PVRing movies, get to watch stuff I just wouldn't rent otherwise.)

I wonder if Donnie has filled that position yet? WOnderful entry level into the biz. I'll bet one call to Ryerson's Student employment center would have candidates lined up, if for nothing other than a summer position.
