Gee, with the latest scammer incident(s) and talk of changed accounts, double accounts, secret identities. I feel compelled to clear the air and confess that I too have not been completely honest with the group.

Truth be told, I'm actually not a coyote as would be implied by my avatar... In real life I am the Walrus!
Whew, glad I got that off my chest. It's been weighing heavily on my concience.

I would also encourage any other members with dark secrets to post their confessions. Who knows, maybe we can make the world a better place. Or if not the world then maybe just our little corner of it.

I confess I bought the kids a Wii for Christmas fully loaded with light sabers and two guitars. The boys have totally ignored the pins since Christmas. Even I played the Wii, by myself last night to wind down, instead of my beloved pins. It's only temporary. I promise.

Here's a confession... I don't even get the thrill of playing anymore. I have been through a lot of pressure lately and I kind of lost the fire. I just rather isolate myself to my workshop and fix other people's pins instead. Even buying a pin and vid has become such a hassle for me that I don't even bother and send the deals to others. The only pin I own right now is a 4MBC, and I play it once a week. Wizard of wor even gets turned on barely twice a month now. My other vids are lost-time projects. I currently have 11 pins in my basement that I could set up, but I don't even want to, other than to fix them.

I hope one day I will get the fun of playing back.

Pack of lies!  PM to Sparky sent.

I actually avoid competition events because I'm such a good player it would intimidate everyone else, I love the fact that other players leave their fingerprints on machines I am about to play, and well, give me Whodunnit, or give me death.

I must be honest with all of you, confessions are good for the soul I hear.

I hate pinball, I hate video games, I hate Maaca and I'm just here to laugh at you bizarro's by infiltrating this ridiculous hobby, so that I can expose the degenerate pastime for what it is: a decaying way to waste your money in old worthless things that will only lead in divorce from the spouse, disconnect from your kids and bankruptcy for your finances.

Every time I play a video or pinball game, I feel like throwing up, like part of me is DYING, very much in line with that avatar that passes for a videogame life.  For every “beep” my firepower makes, my sanity slides away bit by bit. For every “bleep” my arcade machine makes, my soul is sucked out of my body, forever draining into the pits of hell.  For every $$$ I waste in my research on modern day consoles, I can feel the life-sapping energy leaving my body through my toe-nails into the depths of despair.

Save me from this ridiculous scientific research, I am now INFECTED!  Save me from you lot, and God in Heaven, SAVE ME FROM MYSELF!

There, I feel better.  There is power in honesty and confession.

Like Sparky, I've lost the spirit..  DM is up for sale and all I'll have left is a partially working 6MDM that'll be out the door if I get time to fix it up.  Time to move on I guess..  I always thought I'd get out of it because I would need the money but in the end I got out because I just don't "feel" it anymore

That's too bad. In the end I see pinball machines as the biggest baddest toys on the block and not enjoying them for me is a sign of me getting just way to old and practical.

I just keep ramping up the challenges and changing my focus to keep my interest. The more I learn about this hobby and I am no expert, the more interesting it becomes. Everyone needs something to love, something to live for and something to wish for. If it is simply wishing to have the best classic Stern collection around then so be it. To me that makes more sense than buying a bunch of games, playing them till your bored and moving on.

Hope you find out what keeps your interest.

Actually, for me it is the opposite... working on other's machines is keeping me going. I have even been somewhat bitten by the EM bug a bit, having the 4MBC and the EMs of others.

I love the Hunt, Questing for Machines and then getting good at playing them. Nothing like finding a Machine you have never seen, but have heard good things about and discovering what they are like. There are Very few machines that I have run across that don't have a cool "Hook" to keep you coming back. Lots of times it is the main "Toy" but sometimes it is something subtle, a magnet here andd there, a Fan, a bit of programming, but there is always something, at least for me, which explains the amount of games I have and the difficulty I have deciding something has to go. I can't see simply deciding I am done and getting rid of everything, there are way to many good machines out there that are fun and challenging!

I can see that.  People change.  Hobbies change.  Priorities in life change.

Whenever I lose the desire, I take a break and revisit it later.   And if I never revisit it, then it is time to move on.  Of course, I have always come back to pinballs/vids, in one aspect or another.

Of course, I have always come back to pinballs/vids, in one aspect or another.

Same here, I've had a vid or pin of one form or another in my house since 1997, I've gone to other things, but always come back, it's how I relax the most. I've started my own business, restored cars, have rental property, but always enjoy my time tinkering with my machines, and my wife says, that's usually when I'm the happiest.
Brings me right back to the days of taking the bus downtown on a Thursday night with my buddies (@1982), playing games till we ran out of money, seeing what was new, and then used the quarter we put in our shoe, for the bus ride home.

Gottlieb Haunted House
Williams Black Knight

Gone:
Williams Pinbot

But anyway, with HDTV, Blu-Ray, PS3 (got for xmas gift!) and iPod Touch, I could tell you that the Pin/Vid hobby is fading and fading fast....
Have fun with whatever hobby you move on to if that is the case....

I use to play with my kids like hell, making shacks with them, exterior games, picking empty bottles, doing bicycle with them and anything they would love to do but the last 3 or 4 years I'm a lot more serious and less motivated to do these kind of activities with them, when I do though we really have fun together but I rather stay sit or do a more calm activity....boy do we get serious and dull with age....this is the part of getting old that I hate and mostly don't understand.
