So I cleaned up this old TAF pf and was thinking of what to do:

Put it on the wall as art.

Send it in to get fixed, wait forever (I don't need it right now) and then keep it for future considerations.

Keep it, wait for a TAF to come up with a bad pf, then fix it for swapping.

Now I go back to my situation where I didn't want to take out my pf and sit on a pile of parts forever until it gets fixed. Repro really wasn't the way I wanted to go and fortunately I lucked out on a CC original. So I am thinking... Hmmm. should I get it fixed and have it as an original CC spare since it takes so long to get done, or should I offer it up for sale so someone who doesn't want their game in pieces has something to send off in place of their own pf?

It's got some ugly spots, but I am pretty sure it can be fixed.

What would you do?

Considering how much coin a NOS clearcoated one went for on ebay a few days ago (over $1600 I believe),
and you don't need it right away, I send it out now for future considerations.

btw ... I'm looking for a worn-out Getaway, or No Fear unpopulated pf if anyone knows where one might be sitting.

Dave, you don't want to see the new one. It turned out really really Nice. So nice I have to keep it without a doubt.

As for my old one here is a pic. What do you think. Wall art or repairable? What is still hard to see even when you scale it up fully is in the power cloud. Thin cracks, that to me may be the killer.

It cost a few bucks to ship the good one to me though so that might make it prohibitive. All I can say is after hearing Vengeance's story on his pf, the waiting, the poor communication with the restorer, the box of parts, etc. There has to be a better way. Thankfully I got a great condition CC pf right away. The stars must of been lining up that day.

Now if a guy were really thinking he would buy it and send it directly to whomever was going to restore it.

Well, It is Certainly good enough for wall art, especially at my house as I have no standards!! You saw my Funhouse Playfield, didn't you!  

As for restoring it, I don't think it looks to bad in the pic, but I can't see the cracks and I don't know much about restoring them.

That said, There are 20,000+ AF's out there and I know there are many playfields waaaaaay worse than that one.

I saw the playfield in the machine, mine was in much worse shape and was brought back to life.

It was a hassle the first time but I've learned from my mistakes.  My Fishtales is with Captian Neo right now, it cost me $80 to ship it down to him with UPS.  I had the same box from last time so I didn't need to build one.  His turn around time was quoted to me at 8 weeks.  Will he get it done in that time, only time will tell but his communication thus far has been good.  On the way back I will have it shipped to a Fedex or UPS depot in Niagra Falls that is just across the border and I will go and pick it up myself and make a weekend of it then bring it across the border myself so I won't get raped by brokerage fees which was what killed me last time.  

This Fish Tales playfield was pretty wrecked as well, tons of insert damage, if your not in a hurry when I get it back I can pots before and after pics so you can see the kind of work Neo does.  Mr Hide had a playfield done but he used a lower level of service, that is another nice thing you can choose the thype of resoration work he does.  I think Mr Hide went with Level 3, my fishtales is going in for his best work possible which is a level 5.

I also have some playfields being shipped to Neo as well.  Communication seems good so far.  Easy to get on the phone and was quite helpful in explaining the different services he offers.  I was given a rough turn around time of 6 to 8 weeks as well.  To me, it was really a toss up between Karlzona and Neo.  My past experience/communication with Playfield Renovations was decent, but lately they have been frustrating to get some basic questions answered.

PFR isn't accepting anything new, neither is Bill Davis.

The only restores left are HSA and Captain Neo.

Karl isn't an option for me as the guy seems like a complete douche.  I'd prefer to have nothing to do with him as I don't feel he deserves my business.  I don't like his business ethics and I don't like how he represents himself so he doesn't deserve my business as far as I'm concerned.  

Keep in mind Karl and Gary are good friends, not worth sending him anything.

Who is who in the zoo? You guys are throwing around first, last and company names.

How about a list of who does this thing? First name, last name and what company they go by if any? Pros and Cons.

Bill was the original, does great work, better to deal with him over the phone, nice guy to talk to, it will take him over a year to get the work done, but it will be done WELL! I've heard he also is no longer accepting new work.

Mixed reviews, I've heard they have had some trouble starting but are getting better, supposed to be pretty cheap with quick turn around times but won't take on huge projects because of the extra time it takes for the restoration pushing back their turnaround time.

New to the scene offers diffrent levels of work at diffrent prices in an attempt to offer restoration services to a wider variety of clients.  Good turn around times and decent prices.  This is who I went with for my Fish Tales restoration so I'll have a more informed opinion once I get my playfield back.

Complete douchebag moron, will never deal with him.  His work seems good but his ethics and the way he acts make it so I'll never deal with him.  Big warning dealing with this guy, Gary the Psycho from RGP has him in his back pocket and will cause problems with your project if you have ever pissed him off.  Red Flags all over this guy, I'll never use him.
