I often get the comment that guys regret letting something go, or will say they miss a particular machine. In most cases machines go from collectors in the quest for something they perceive as being a better machine. I hate to see anything I have go, but anyone at this for awhile seems to have some regret over a particular machine they once owned and let go. For me currently it would be FT since now owning WH2O it made a great sister machine set. Personally I am liking WH2O better then I ever did FT but FT was an awesome machine too. I guess the point here is the notion that the grass seems greener but sometimes you just get lucky with a machine that is a good fit for you and don't appreciate it at the time.
Been there done that. Sold a WCS 94 and missed it right away. Got another. Traded an IJ and missed it immediately. Got another. Best solution when you sell a game: offer it to a friend (who won't flip it) so you can continue to play it when you visit. Often times easier said than done.
I can understand your thoughts on Fishtales. Deceptively simple game. Not easy to get the Super Jackbot and with "lightening flippers" actually a pretty tough game. I like the theme, as well On the plus side, they are fairly common (although hard to find in nice shape) so perhaps you can get another sometime.
Out of all the games I've had, the only one I 'miss' is BSD...I guess I got rid of it too quickly (got an unexpected offer I couldn't refuse)...
I think it's due to the fact that I never 'finished' it (get triple multi-ball)
The one I thought I would miss was CFTBL, but a year later and I don't miss it one bit...
Would mind finding another Chexx though...
Current 'working' lineup: ( 2 ) Flipper Football, The Shadow
Gone but not forgotten: ( 22 ) City Slicker, Dirty Harry, CFTBL, Big Shot, Big Guns, Black Rose, Judge Dredd, Indianapolis 500, Big Game, BS: Dracula x 2, Beat the Clock, Fire!, F-14 Tomcat, Getaway, Breakshot, Cheetah, Meteor, El Dorado, Nitro Ground Shaker, Chexx Hockey, Slugfest
I've only ever sold one game and I don't miss it. I sold a T2, fun game but very boring after a while.
Wait while I was typing this I forgot I owned a JY and traded it to Mary Ellen, lol!! Man I so don't miss that game almost to the point I forgot I even owned it!
Of the machines that I have sold or traded that I can say that I honestly miss the most, believe it or not would be a Bally 1989 Atlantis (I'm really not trying to mislead anyone here, and I'm not being sarcastic either) . I really enjoyed this game for it's sound, play, great jackbot shot, playfield art, and the hot women riding the dolphins was well........I'll leave that up to your imagination.
In response to Necro and the fact he misses his Fishtales........well I can appreciate that. This game was on my wish list ever since I first played it. But I wasn't going out of my way to get it, as there were a number of other machines that were more collectable/desirable and a "better bang for you buck" sort of speak. I just knew that one day I would come by one without to much trouble. I'm a rocker from day 1, but I love the hillbilly bluegrass music in this game (I think that's what you would call it?).
Regrets, I've had a few But then again, too few to mention I did what I had to do And saw it through without exception
I planned each charted course Each careful step along the byway Oh, and more, much more than this I did it my way....
Um.. er.. sorry I forget the rest.
Actually I've never had to part with a pin but I do have regrets for machines that I didn't purchase. Incredible Hulk, $100: passed on it. Quicksilver, $50: passed on it. Panthera, ???: never went to look at it. Harlem Globtrotters, ???: well, we all know that story. BK2K, $1700: passed on it.
Oh wait, now I remember!
...For what is a man, what has he got If not himself, then he has not To say the words he truly feels And not the words he would reveal The record shows I took the blows And did it my way The record shows I took the blows And did it my way
Thank-you, thank-you very much.

Dude, you must be thinking of the Charles Atlas version or something... I don't ever remember the 'King' singing about a beach in his.
Grampa, maybe your generation would think of Sinatra but my generation would think about a little album from '78 when i see the phrase: "mistakes, i've made a few"...

Maybe so but for pure humor value I'd pick Elvis crooning "MY Way" over Queen's "We are the Champions" any day.
BTW, just how old do you think I am.

What's Jim's nick? Is he any closer to me than you? Gotta look on the bright side.
Hey I see that JM went, so you must be really getting tired of playing G&R right now. I'm sure one more replay of Sweet Child O'Mine or Paradise City will put you over the edge. I can relieve the pain.
BSD is beeing delivered saturday, and JM is staying for a while too... Grabbing the new machine somewhere next week.
So technically, GnR still has "friends" But i am getting sick of that damn magnet board.
Fixed it, worked for 2 games, blown transistors again... did suggested noise filtering mod, fixed transistors, worked for a game or two, now 2 fuses are out again (most likely the transistors too). Next suggested step (and the last i can do) is to move the board in the head, shortening the distance between it and the cpu board to remove the noise. Its a well know problem, and i'm getting a bit tired of it hehe
Currently owning: - Solar Fire, Medusa, Flash Gordon, (Centaur), No Fear ------------------
i guess it would have been my fireball classic. i never had it up fully working for more then a couple games one day and then it had problems. so never got to relive old feelings. but was able to buy it for really low price and collector offered way to much to say no to. now i bet he is reliving his past. at least its fully up and running
