I've been playing BK2K on pinmame, and I just had to create a post about the music in this game. I gotta say it's one of the best pinball tunes I've ever heard (the voices are killer!), and it integrates with the overall theme just perfectly. After playing the game for a while I find it's the music that is making me consider finding one of these for my collection.......
Anyone else have a favorite pin based on music alone?

Guess I should have searched before I posted. If I end up adding a BK2K to my collection I'll make sure I keep it turned off if Sparky ever stops by......
I'll have to check out SOF, and what is it with Steve Ritchie pins? Seems the music from his pins are the most popular (around here), and isn't he deaf (or almost)?
How many of you guys crank the volume on your pins? I find myself lowering it so it doesn't scare the crap out of anyone who happens to play when I am not around but when I start playing then I crank it up. Drives my wife nuts. I just find that the music tracks and sound effects are a major aspect of the game. NF is a Ritchie game and it pounds out a pretty respectible heavy metal synthesized sound track. Some have claimed that it is a negative aspect over time and gets tiresome, I don't find that at all. The crowd I hang around doesn't seem so also. We all like it and in fact I have had friends ask to buy the machine out of all of mine just for the overall appearance and sound of this machine.
If you want a really retro kinda 80's machine then Dr. Dude has the sound to meet that requirement. The way the game plays out is by collecting three elements for the mix master. Once you have an element it unlocks the respective sound track. The multiball and Dr. Dude sound tracks that are your reward for jackpot on the machine have a real retro 80's sound to them and good beat. I'm kinda of old at 42 and get a kick out of the retro sound on this one. This makes the machine unique I think because it tried to be cool for it's era. Not my favourite sound track but one of notable mention due to its uniqueness.
Another one I like is Fish Tales. When you play that game the soundtrack is bluegrass music which I am not a big fan of but it adds so well to the character of the machine. To me Fish Tales with its soundtrack is like going on a ride at Disney. All the elements work well together and deliver an experience of a different environment or location. It really ties in well and creates that classic novelty experience.

...Am I the only one that can't stand it? Christ, it sounds like a cross between "Disco-Duck" crap music and female lounge singers trying to combine Disco with a Gregorian monk chant...
aaaaaaahhhhhh-AAAHHHHHHH-aaaahhhh....
OK, yes, I do think the VOICES are really cool... probably one of the best out there with the Darth-Vader-ish voice for the Black Knight and the one-liners.... but the music.... good grief.
Yes and no ... It IS great ...but you should have heard the Korn's at expo 2002 .. I actually shut it down 3 times because I couldn't stand it anymore !

Personally, I think the music is better than the game play Pretty much all the action happens on top and the bottom playfield is wasted. Shame that.
I love the music on NGG. I think it has one of the best sound tracks around. Music really seems to fit the game and it changes dramatically depending on the mode and what is lite. Also, love the quotes from the gofers.
I think the love of that game came in Chicago...when you could hear it a half a mile further in 'Skanktown'...ahhhh the memories...
Last year's CENTAUR was soooo SWEEEEEET!!!
Actually, one of the reasons I like my JD is the DCS sound...great guitar!

Current 'working' lineup: ( 2 ) Flipper Football, The Shadow
Gone but not forgotten: ( 22 ) City Slicker, Dirty Harry, CFTBL, Big Shot, Big Guns, Black Rose, Judge Dredd, Indianapolis 500, Big Game, BS: Dracula x 2, Beat the Clock, Fire!, F-14 Tomcat, Getaway, Breakshot, Cheetah, Meteor, El Dorado, Nitro Ground Shaker, Chexx Hockey, Slugfest
Gofer conga line is rediculous. That sound bite only comes on if you get a hole and it randomly choses it. I don't know if it is a design issue or flaw with the spinner award or just random but my NGG rarely grants the conga line routine. That and the chicken dance are rediculous.

Me doth think he protests too much. A classic case of disco envy if I've ever seen one.
Come on Ian join us on the dark side... There's lots of room and some of the guys brought cake!

Another Inane post brought to you by the good people of ACME Corp... Purveyors of the all-purpose Thread Killer.
You mean "Dance Party"? I think it is hilarious. I love it! Also love the chicken dance song, because that is when you get to nail the little buggers. Personally, I think it is one of the best games in terms of sound quality and music. Another favorite is when the gofers are shown on the display as eating the wires in the pinball. Classic!

I agree 100%... but then again it depends what you like. I am the type of player that likes it when the ball hits things, like drop targets, regular targets... and yes, I do like a good ramp shot.
What I have never liked is loop shots where you completely lose the ball for a while. There is no reaction to it. In one side... out the other. Woohoo. It is probably why I never liked Jungle Lord either... crappy bottom playfield layout. Flash Gordon in comparison has 8 targets, a spinner, 3 bumpers and an ejector hole all on the bottom playfield, which is more than most pins in that era on a 1-playfield design.... Multi-level-playfield pinballs were probably the hardest to design, as you end up working with very limited space... and I think that BK2K was a half-hearted effort.
