I am curious as to what the best deal anyone has found on IJ4. I am looking to buy one but does it make more sense to wait 6-8 months after the release for the prices to go down a bit?
Wondering where and what deals anyone has found. So far looks like $5000 CDN including shipping is best deal to be had.

5K sounds like too much ... ask medvet what she paid for her NIB stern
Email Jack of Pinballsales and ask for the RGP pricing. My Shrek was $3874 total and I picked up in Allentown. He will ship to Canada for about $200-250. By the time I paid taxes at the border (declared this one in full ) total with exchange all in was about $4300 so even with shipping - $4500 CDN-$4550.
Here's the website. http://www.pinballsales.com Jack is a really nice guy. Tell him Mary Ellen recommended you to call him (might get Canadian pricing on top! Good luck ME

brought 2 pins back and didn't pay a cent ! guy said " you brought them over there? " " yeah yeah .. didn't sell so I'm bringing them back" ... and waved me in

Some people just cannot lie and some could. But honestly, the guy was not by the rules as usually, you have to first show the full trailer at the CDN side of the border crossing on the way there to then be able to pass those by for free on the way back. Lucky break.
Vids: Crystal Castles, Gauntlet/Gauntlet II, Donkey Kong Jr., Ms. Pac-Man, Vs. Super Mario Bros. (other Vids in storage - for now) Pins:White Water [WH2O]
It's the first year that neither sides opened the trailer to see what was inside ... very surprising.
...and are you calling me a liar ?! I think the guy was taken off guard by the "pinball convention" ! same thing when entering the US; the guy asked how many machines we had in our basement I offered to hook him with one or two and he smiled and sent us on our way ...

That's my usual crossing experience but figured a big huge box taking up the entire back of my minivan was slightly conspicuous ..... my parts however didn't quite get mentioned

I sent him an email and will let you know how it goes. Thanks,
I didn't pay taxes on my machine... it was for parts and within my exemption....and has a 'receipt' from the seller to boot!

Wondering what you think of Shrek pinball. Looks cool. Daddy loves IJ but perhaps I would be better to look for something green to appeal to my small kids?
Shrek is a blast! The playfield as you may know is based on Family Guy which has been getting rave reviews. The art package is quite amazing - colours are gorgeous and the green trim on legs, side rails and lockdown bar looks much better than in pictures. Playfield art is bright and colourful. Gameplay is very challenging as many different shots and flow is good (see Family Guy posts on RGP for more detail). The animations and modes are very funny and similar to movies - safe humour for kids (even on adult mode) but underlying jokes for adults that we get. Overall. I am incredibly happy with the purchase. I never did get to play a Family Guy before buying it so went on it's rep for gameplay and the Shrek theme. No regrets!

I played Shrek in Rochester and thought it was fantastic. My daughter would love it. I thought the green trim was well done and a nice change from the norm.
Ironically, Family Guy doesn't do anything for me at all. The art and humour is much more interesting on Shrek, IMHO.
Hey Medvet, or anyone with some playing time on Shrek, I heard a complaint that they got voice over actors to do the quotes that aren't direct movie quotes and that they don't sound quite right? Any experience with that?
Dave

Before I answer that, you should know that I think the people that complain about using voice actors on pinballs are being a little too anal retentive . I'd rather have pinball relative comments than movie snipits being attempted to fit to the game. I personally think that the Shrek voices are done well and there are a multitude of quotes especially by Donkey - he has quite a few Donkey-like quotes based on your playing ability of the mini playfield. I think they are good all around and I agree with Cooke - Family Guy does nothing for me except actual gameplay. Shrek is so much more!
Hope that helps ME By the way Dave, POTC is also voice actors and again the quality is fine just the lack of quotes is the issue with POTC. I honestly think that if the info wasn't released to the pinball public, most people wouldn't be able to tell actors vs voice actors honestly.
From what I've heard, that mode is still in Shrek, with Shrek doin' the fartin'

Are those the same idi... uh... people that complain that TZ sucks because it isn't Rod Serling that gave the voice samples?
I agree with ME... anally retentive is the best choice of words. It costs WAY less for a company to use voice actors. I hear that even using direct quotes from a movie can be legally expensive.
Besides... for Shrek... just imitate a cheezy Scottish accent. As for the other characters, any woman with a nice voice can fill in for Fiona, and pretty much any hyperactive moron can imitate Eddie Murphy...
Being as the thread is hijacked already from IJ4 to Shrek, I just want to mention a proud moment when my wife kicked a guys butt on Shrek @ Rochester. Nice to have a wife that likes pins - and can play, too. He left sheepishly He was a good sport - he spent the rest of the time kicking my butt on EBD
Jen loved Shrek too - but we don't own a bunch of other pins that are higher on our list before Shrek. One day...
People complained that they didn't get Rod Serling to do voices forthe pinball machine? Seriously? ummm, hasn't he been dead for decades?
