DE games are pretty decent and compare favorably with many of the Williams titles of the day. Time Machine, for example, is as good as many of the Williams Sys. 11 games. Simpsons was another fun game in the arcade. Not so much at home as it is pretty limited to multiball for points, but I recall the line ups to play it back in the day. Hook, Monday Night Football, Phatom of the Opera and Star Trek are all fun titles.
I'm not looking to add any DE games at the moment. I have a HUO JP. Fun game, plays alot like TAF. I would like a GNR, but not willing to pay what they are going for now. Tales from the Crypt is a great game, but the artwork is ugly and it's a little too dark for my young family -- still a very fun game, though. Rocky and Bullwinkle is another fun DE. Very fast. Not a fan of Tommy. The music is based on the musical and it just drives me nuts. That and the "Holiday, darling" quote.
I always thought Last Action Hero and Lethal Weapon were fun as well. Not saying I'd want to own them, but did enjoy playing them when they were at the Midway and other locations.

I own DE Simpsons & ST: 25. I wouldn't mind finding JP and Rocky & Bullwinkle. Obviously the cheaper, the better.
Before I get any new ones, I have to get rid of my JY.

I'm picking up my first DE tomorrow. Really looking forward to it. If anyone has any Secret Service parts to sell, please let me know. I'm glad the artwork is ugly and the Williams snobs won't go near many of the DE's. It keeps the prices low on otherwise great games. So keep talking trash! |

I think you'll really enjoy the DE architecture. It has a definite early Williams feel to it. If I'm not mistaken, DE based their design entirely on System 11 hardware.

Definitely easy to work on. They in fact COPIED Wms Sys 11. When you use "Leon's test EPROM" to troubleshoot, it's actually the same eeprom for sys 11 AND DE.. The boards are nearly identical except for the reset section. DE had many innovations though such as the first game with DMD, the first game with "fliptronic" flippers, first game with stereo sound... Mike |
