Normally I use Opera browser for this site but as of this morning it's broken. The browser gets to "Elements: 8/9" and never finishes loading the page (portal, home, membercenter, etc). The only message in the error console is

CSS - http://s107351202.onlinehome.us/blahdocs/template/winter/template.css
Linked-in stylesheet
Declaration syntax error
Line 381:
   filter : alpha(opacity=85);

As far as I know nothing has changed on this end since it was working last night. Any site changes since then?

I switched to IE for now but would really like to return to my preferred browser.

Nothing has ever changed indeed...

Try to clear your Opera cache and reload...

Did you upgrade Opera lately ? I just had a look and the opacity declaration is known to be different/problematic between browsers but i cant see how it suddenly cause issues thou other than a browser upgrade.

Clearing the cache did not help. I have not upgraded Opera since last night that's for sure. Unlikely the opacity thing is responsible but I did run the portal page through a validator and it's full of errors:

W3C Markup Validation Service

Loads of syntax errors, mismatched tags, etc.

Don't use IE! Use Chrome or Firefox. I highly recommend Chrome due to its great UI and extremely fast rendering speed. Plus, it's much more secure and robust than any of the other browsers.

...and your point is?  It's been this way since day one.  No one has time to move MAACA to the new platform and it seems to be working "ok" the existing Host must have reduced some of the load on their shared server.  My server offer still stands ready once one of us eeks out some spare time to do the move.

I was wondering that too... switching from Opera to IE is the like going from a WPC to a Chicago Coin!

I don't feel like installing another browser. IE is already on my system so I'll use it for this site only until hopefully it works properly again at some point in Opera.

btw Wayne the 500 error still appears regularly so it doesn't appear the host has done anything to improve that situation.

That's because it's the same host, they haven't switched yet.

Huh, where'd you read Google Chrome is more secure?   I haven't heard that and am curious.   I use Firefox 'cause somehow I think Google is the new "Microsoft"...

Yeah I was responding to Wayne's comment:

It's mainly due to how Chrome sandboxes everything, especially security flaw filled plugins like Flash. Here's a good description: http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9143518/Chrome_sets_browser_security_standard_says_expert
