Vpinmame Stern emulation is very poor. Very few people have all those Stern to compare side by side. They have to be all in the same nice shape also to compare fairly. Catacomb is definitively not better the Flight 2000, Freefall and Lightning in my opinion. Usually Stern fans are crazy about classic Stern sounds and Catacomb don't have all the usually Stern sounds punch.

14 pins Ahhhhh!,2 jukes, mame, table arcade,vendo39,gun game and ROBOTRON ---NO VACANCY!!!--- the Inn is full!
Where do you guys think Sterns Nine ball fits in....better or worst than...
Sparky,since you had it?
question of taste... but IMHO Nine Ball is better than Catacomb, but it is VERY close. Personally, the sounds on Catacomb get on my nerves. and I have played every Stern except the prototypes. I even have been lucky to have tried a Cue years back.
It all depends what you prefer on a pin. Sounds... playfield layout... lights... toys... level of interest varies by how much importance you put on each of these.
I personally owned Galaxy, Meteor, Big Game, Nine Ball, Freefall, Flight 2000, Seawitch, Lightning, Wild Fyre, Trident, Lectronamo, Iron Maiden (yes... I owned a project for a while... really messed up though), and Magic. And like I said, I played pretty much all the others at some point. So I know my Sterns.
My top 3 are Lightning, Nine Ball and Seawitch. Close behind are Catacomb, Stargazer, Big Game and Freefall.

If I had to choose, I'd take Catacomb over Sea Witch based on theme alone. Let alone game play. But then, I haven't played seawitch, so my opinion doesn't count.

humm ,,,,believe it or not that Nine ball was my first electronic pin and besides yours (same one) I never, NEVER saw any other for sale.... I guess I was too new to appreciate a good game points taken, thanks Sparky
I give those other Sterns a try if Hal can get at least one finished
