I'm kinda flirting with the idea of getting a jukebox. Not like a crazy 50s Wurlitzer or anything but just something from the 60s or 80s I can stuff punk rock 45s in.
I remember reading somewhere that someone on Maaca had a jukebox price guide. What's a FESTIVAL made by NSM worth? I kinda like it 'cause it looks like a droid Luke Skywalker passed on or something.
There's one for sale close but I think they may be asking too much ($1500, but I have no clue really. I kinda thought 70s and 80s jukes weren't terribly expensive)
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

NSM, (Germany) made excellent jukeboxes, but their claim to fame was really their CD jukes like the Performer Grand and their wallmounts like Firebird 1 and 2 as well as the Performer Wall. Their technolgy was superior to the US manufacturers when it came to digital music.
Their 45RPM jukes were fairly dependable but difficult to service. They are certainly not worth $1500, don't pay that ! A nice Rock-o-la from the 70's, nothing fancy, goes for about $500 and often less. A good looking jukebox is a nice place to store your old records and lights up the room better than a computer, ofcourse that depends on how old you are and what you consider good looking vis à vis practicality.

Yeah, I'm definitely not $1500 interested in any jukebox so I wouldn't be coughing that up for sure. I was just lookin' for some kinda price guide numbers to maybe throw at the guy.
Seems like a lot of kijiji machines have asking prices in that range, even though I'm sure they are as you guys were sayin' in the 400-500 range.

I know that there were a lot of Music operators in the Atlantic provinces over the decades, and jukeboxes, especially 45RPMs are pretty common out east. Knowing this, I am a bit surprised at what you are telling us that some people ask for these "boat anchors".
There were lots of ugly plain jane jukes in the 70's and 80's and NSM was no exception to the ugliness in some of their early models. The one you showed interest in can fetch at best $700 on a good day in Montreal, and yes it does have a sort of weird appeal to it that may one day up the price, who knows. But right now it is not worth what he is asking, I assure you.

I'm not too surprised people are asking so much, because they probably think "the awesome jukebox they've been showing off in my basement for 10 years" is actually worth more than it really is, which is bad news for me I guess. I'll just keep my eyes peeled. You're right about the number of jukes in the Maritimes, kijiji seems to have like 4 jukes for every 1 pinball table.
