I am looking at a Sys 6 project Firepower that has zero displays. Before jumping in since I know the displays can get pricey I was just wonder what was out there to piece this back together. It has 4 x 6 digit displays and a master display. LMK if you have even one or two that still work. I guess worst case is to go with one of the LED replacements out there, but I would like to see what's out there first. http://www.rottendog.us/DIS326.htm |

Whos would you recommend? Rottendog? PinScore? PinLed? Rottendog seems to be the most economical and they have a reputable product. |

Rottendog hands down. The guy is a class act, and his stuff is top notch. (gave me a smokin' deal on a set of flipper opto PCB's while @ Expo)
The only thing I really liked about the Pinscore over the RD version was the black PCB in case you can see the PCB through the score window.
But I would probably still give my $$ to RD.

According to the Rottendog site "The boards shown in the picture above are the prototype set. The actual boards are black in color...LEDs are made with black face to help in visual aesthetics when machine is not on" |
| Playable Now: Centaur II, Doctor Who, High Speed. Playable Soon: Breakshot, Sorcerer Later: Flash, Genie, Seawitch Fondly remembered: Firepower |

Even better! (and now there is no reason to order the Pinscore over the RD version) The ones I saw @ Expo must have been the proto's. D |

At least on the prototype ones they don't appear to have the rubber gasket around the display like the originals to block out backlighting leaking past from the head G.I. I wonder if this is an issue or if this is just on the prototype? I like his approach to make them serviceable down the road. "Boards use 100% through-hole electronic components , NO SURFACE MOUNT PARTS!" I have the pick and paste tools and rapid heat/cool equipment to work on SMD's and they are still a pain. |
