Is it just me??

This isn't aimed at any one person or post in particular so don't take it personally..

Seems like lately anytime someone posts a pin for sale there's a bunch of guys that hop on the thread and say "OH WOW GREAT PRICE", yet these are all people who are not going to buy or are not interested.

Seems to me that if the prices were that great the pins wouldn't be for sale for a long time.

Mike

I saw a used car the other day that made me think "Wow, great price for a Porsche!".  That does not mean that I am currently in the market to buy a Porsche or even another car.

I just mentioned in Mani's thread great price, doesnt mean I want to buy the game or I may already own it such as Mani's case. When I look at cars occasionally I also say the same thing as newf with no indication of buying it.

What is a great price btw ? For me, it would be 500$ below street value.. that's certainly not the case Ok or normal price... yes, great ? Not for me.

From all TZ that has been posted here and that i know has been bought in the last year, the price always been between 2900-3500, exception of that HUO someone posted a little while ago.

No offense, not saying the price isnt correct..

Az, the cheap one

Could you rephrase that last sentence and add Az, the cheap one/tire professional tire kicker? If you could go ahead and do that, that'd be great!

I don't mind paying a fair price. I guess it is just important not to sink too much in so if you go to trade it out (which is virtually inevitable for me) you can recover your cost. What is bothersome is crap condition machines going for almost the same price as prestine ones. So if you ask a couple hun more for a really nice machine you get people saying your expensive. WTF try and get one of the bargain ones back to good condition and you will find out how much of a bargain a good condition machine was for the extra few hun.

Used to be a suit sales guy on tv that slogan was. "An educated consumer is our best customer".

I believe that to be a true statement.

I'll comment on the price if I feel it's good but don't have the $$ at the moment to buy it but want to send a "way to go" to who ever buys it that they did good and to enjoy

Example: F-14 had a chance 5 years ago to buy one for $800 working and kicked myself for a couple of years afterwards for not buying it because I thought that was a great price for a system 11.  Then one comes up on this board for $650 but can't do squat about buying it right now, so make a coment to the potential buyers instead

Plus it bumps the thread to keep it fresh for the guy having a hard time selling it

Amen Brother Necro, I'm still dripping with the KY jelly from the last 2 machines I sold and not trying to repeat myself with my next 2 projects (but it's hard when you want perfection not to keep spending a few bucks here and there and...)

i've posted "good price" comments pretty often. usually i'll do this when i think it is a good deal (duh) and if i decided not to buy the machine for myself (i'd be crazy to let everyone know it's a good deal if i'm a potential buyer ). why do i do it? well ... like most in this hobby i know how hard it is to sell a pin even if the price is fair or better than fair. it's just a nice thing to do and i have no problem giving a public thumbs up to a fellow pinhead.

I think most of us are in the same boat. We can only afford to do so much. If a nice pin comes up for a fair price we will give it an honourable mention. I don't find too many preditors on this forum looking for a hard luck guy. In fact most of us will try to get his or her machine sold for them for a fair price. If it's a bit high for what they are offering I see in most cases a little sidebar action happening through the pm means attempting to bring it to where it should be to complete a deal.

I consider this to be one of the most populated forums of realistic Canadian collectors. When I read some of the general ignorance of the American buyers looking at Canadian machines I appreciate the fact that there is an independant Canadian market vetted through forums like this.

You know what? If a game is x amount of dollars and I see it being fair/decent I'll buy it. sure you can wait all year long for x game to roll along for 200 cheaper. Buying from the USA sucks we all know of shipping issues/border/customs etc. Games are harder to find up this way its not like the US where you can have navl go pickup your game and stay within the country and deliver it to you.   I know this thread is about my comment to Mani. I said that comment with good faith and in good gesture. We all have different ideas on a fair/good/excellent price. Necro and I are the same way I guess we just spend money easier?

No it's NOT about your particular post.  I said at the start of the thread.  It's a general comment about MAN Y posts like this.  It wasn't targeted at you in particular Mark.  Try to accept that.

I just commented that in the last few months people were saying things like : "GREAT PRICE" or "WOW THAT WON'T LAST LONG" when really it's just a FAIR PRICE.  In MY mind (just me), fair does not equal great.  That's it!!!  That was the point of my comment!!  No offense was intended and no one was targeted.

Have a nice day!

Mike
