I got it but for me, Firefight came off as a poor man's Horde (GOW2) mode, without any of the strategy based gameplay Horde provides. This isn't a knock at Halo style gameplay, it's run & gun style can be very fun and anyone looking at the "most played games on xbox live" can see the majority prefers it.
I did like ODST's campaign mode, played it with a friend, it's got a good story and some funny bits, well done.
I have it. Haven't even had a chance to play it though and doesn't look like I will have anytime soon. Having said that probably would make for a good forum topic to post members live account names.
I play mostly GOW and GOW2 when I have the time. Never been a big fan of Halo or COD online. I prefer having to move to a position of cover and the various strategies based on weapons cabilities, cover and traps of GOW.
Call me old fashioned but I can't even begin to see the appeal of a shooter with gamepad controls. Keyboard and mouse have ruled for me since QuakeWorld in 1996. Don't own an XBox or any other console, and probably never will.
Anyone like to play Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory? The game is free and there are lots of players. My favorite server is whosgaming.com - often visit there with name "pinhead".
Playable Now: Centaur II, Doctor Who, High Speed. Playable Soon: Breakshot, Sorcerer Later: Flash, Genie, Seawitch Fondly remembered: Firepower
You're old fashion . I hear ya and respect that position, I have another friend who just can't fanthom playing a shooter with a control pad. I like it because it puts everyone playing on the same level playing field (outside of network connectivity/lag). It's also cool to play with my butt sitting down in front of a large TV .
I'm sure there's some dumbing down but really once you get used to it, gamepad playing is very fun. I betcha you would LOVE Horde mode
I started really playing FPS with UT and did master the keyboard mouse FPS gameplay. Moving over to console it took some time to be able to get the controls down to where I could sniper cap as well as PC games. It takes a fair amount of practice to get proficient (years) but as stated it is a level playing field as everyone has to work with a controller. Once you get good at it though you have the advantage of being able to make those shots with a more difficult input device to work with. In the end it is that aspect that has changed my opinion as high proficiency with the controller is not as prevalent and being able to use it well is an advantage.
Controllers only suck when your first trying to master them. Keyboard and mouse is pretty readily mastered by anyone.
Latency is the primary concern with FPS anymore for me. It sucks to be Canadian when most games are hosted a fair distance to the south.

PEOPLE STILL PLAY RTCWET!!!
I used to LOVE that game, I played it for about 2 years straight!
I may start to play it again. What is the IP of that server?

Yeah lots of people play wolf:et, especially in europe. I can't tolerate the latency there. But this one is in Texas and my ping is pretty good. Just go into the game and type in the console

As for the "level playing field"... are you guys seriously worried that someone else has a better mouse and/or keyboard? I think that connection quality is a much more significant factor.

not just the control my friend, but the hardware. Also, you can add the damn cheating that takes the fun away, happens way too much on the PC (happens on the consoles sometimes but there's a better conscious effort to put an end to it. Again, very much IMHO here.
At least with consoles the hardware is all pretty much the same. There are different generations of the same console but little changes on the gaming performance aspects. They may offer higher resolution connections and more storage space but fundamentally the game plays pretty much the same from console to console. I like that aspect as from a hardware perspective as no one is disadvantaged.
It's down too connection for me. The difference in scoring between a good one and a bad one is profound. If I am host it gets ridiculously easy to the extent people will simply quit unless they are an extremely proficient player. In fact I would say the disadvantages of being up here in Canada and suffering from less than ideal connections most of the time has made many of us better players on a whole.
Other than glitching which is readily picked up the only other cheats guys use are modded controllers which also is pretty easy to spot a player of having. Some glitches are just fun though like weapons slide on GOW and hard to pass up on doing for the fun factor.
The best online gaming can be found with Catan for the 360. Don't need to worry about lag and modded controllers there!

In the zip file go to the win32 folder and extract ET.EXE - use it to replace the one in your installation folder.
I found a .exe patch that did it for me
We will have to play soon!

Halo 3: ODST = Guys, if you play the campaign, make sure you watch after the credits. There is an epilogue video, just as in Halo 3.
Have you seen the FULL epilogue in Halo 3?
you get a extra 5 or 10 seconds for beating it on the hardest difficulty

Nah, I never played it on legendary, too many other games to play! If that's the case, maybe it's the same here. Don't have time to try it though, I need a game to trade in for Forza 3 and ODST has won that election. It's a good game, but not a keeper for me as I'm not big on the "versus" type online games and that is surely its forté.
I just found this guy with all the UT tracks on youtube. Awesome stuff. Brings back memories. Hopefully I can find a decent server without mods and play the game again the way it was supposed to play.
