Ran into a small warehouse this weekend that may have some pins for sale fairly cheap. Just waiting to hear back later this week. What do you guys think of Data East Simpsons & Last Action Hero? There were some better machines there, those were just the ones I was unfamiliar with.
Currently Ownin' The Addams Family Terminator 2 The Getaway WWF Royal Rumble (Yea! Yea! Ohhh yea!) Black Knight -New/Project Gorgar -New/Project Strange World King of Kong Themed MAME Cab Chexx Bubble Hockey
Own Magic, Star Gazer, Batman Forever, STTNG, Mystery Castle (project)
Gone Fairy, Secret Service, Meteor x3, Title Fight, Eight Ball Deluxe, Bone Busters Inc., Seawitch, Starship Troopers, Strange Science, Arena, Hook, Pin*Bot x2, Time Warp, Motordome, Robocop, Black hole, Jurassic Park , Wipe-Out, Pinball Pro: Challenger I, Swords of Fury, Stargate, Party Zone
I've generally found Data East machine to be easy to work on and well put together.
They just feel solid to me - meant to be out on routes....kinda clunky when compared to the Williams WPC games of the same era. That's just my opinion. Both Simpsons and Last Action hero are decent games from what I remember.
Yeah, Dan, share the wealth! What else was in that warehouse?
Thanks guys. We'll see how much of a score there is to be had, if anything. It sounded like it could be pretty good but I'm waiting for the real person in charge to get back to me with some numbers.
Like I said, it was a a small warehouse, mostly arcade games in there but for those who are curious the pins were:
Terminator 2 (x2) Getaway Pinbot Jurassic Park DE Simpsons Last Action Hero
Plus a Chexx Hockey table which is something I've been wanting for a while if I could get a decent price.
Currently Ownin' The Addams Family Terminator 2 The Getaway WWF Royal Rumble (Yea! Yea! Ohhh yea!) Black Knight -New/Project Gorgar -New/Project Strange World King of Kong Themed MAME Cab Chexx Bubble Hockey
Oh yeah, be careful not to buy one/some and resell them.... some members are a little sensative over that. If you do, try not to make a profit.
lol Apparently you're still missing the point... I'd have no problem buying a pin off Dan, and would have no problem offering more than what he'd have paid for the machines.
Anyway, nice list there, Dan.. hope you score some deals!

I really like the newer machines, but very much dislike the older ones.

Good luck on the buy... sounds awesome.
After a nearly 2 year dry spell since I got a new pin (new house rut!), my main focus is filling up the basement not making money. I was lead to believe I could get them at "getting rid of these things" type prices but I mean the man in charge may say otherwise when I hear back from him. I have seen people get a little sticky about said topic though, so the advice is welcome.
So yeah, back to the actual thread...Simpsons and Last Action Hero...what's that crane all about in LAH? Does it just move the ball from one ramp to another or does is act more like Batman TDK?
According to IPDB the machine plays Queensryche in the background...what kind of a selling feature is that?! .
Currently Ownin' The Addams Family Terminator 2 The Getaway WWF Royal Rumble (Yea! Yea! Ohhh yea!) Black Knight -New/Project Gorgar -New/Project Strange World King of Kong Themed MAME Cab Chexx Bubble Hockey
My friend has LAH and I find it to be a fun game. And fairly easy to play The crane moves the ball from one ramp at the back of the playfield to a ramp on the other side of the playfield. The shaker motor shakes while the crane is moving.
A listing of my current games can be found in the Gameroom section(Updated June 20,2010)
DE are darn good machines...easy to work on and fun to play! may not have the nicest back glasses but usually not too pricy LAH is one of thise , great game but the BG ..... Buy them all and sell em here , cost of course!! ...
14 pins Ahhhhh!,2 jukes, mame, table arcade,vendo39,gun game and ROBOTRON ---NO VACANCY!!!--- the Inn is full!
I'm looking for a T2, working/dead/unshopped or whatever. Keep me in mind for 1 of the 2 if possible.

Pins : Vids:
Demolition Man Robotron Mini High Speed Make Trax Mini Whirlwind Sinistar Mini Apollo 13 Jrok WIlliams Multi Mini Road Show 1069 in 1 big mofo Batman Forever
Gone: Spy Hunter, TMNT, Raven, Mr Mrs Pac, Totem, Torch, Coney Island, Escape From the Lost World, Lights Camera Action, Pinbot , Police Force, Special Force, JPTLW, Baywatch, Maverick, South Park, FIRE! x2, F14 Tomcat, Twister
I owned a LAH and found it boring after a spell. My problems with it is that it's nearly impossible not to hit one of those two scoops right in front of the flippers.... kind of wish another shot (besides the scoops) could be made more often... I couldn't stand Arnold's voice any longer... and the crane gave me mechanical issues.
Other then those it's not a bad game, just not for me - actually I thought I hated DE games because of this machine... then after playing some others I found that it's just the early models I dislike.
I 'D love the Simpsons, Ill pay shipping and even give you a nice fiders fee Dan.....
Humans are like Slinkys, it always puts a smile on your face when you push one down the stairs!

The only gripe I have with DE is the cost of generic parts, like flipper stuff etc. Compared to the WMS replacement prices, it feels like gouging.
Beyond that, they are pretty solid. (some of the board design is not the best but it works)
D
Concur. In general IMHO DE from a design perspective is inferior to Williams/Bally of the same era by far. There is very little innovation over Sys 11. Not the most elegantly designed machines but they work. Seem to be rugged and reliable from my experience but lack refinement in design. It's the best Gary could do to copy Williams and as such was not as innovative and fell behind in design and execution.
