Well, JD and I have been toying with the idea for well over 5 years, and we have decided to go forward with it. We will be filming a 20-minute segment every month (maybe more than once a month if the demand is there) on anything pinball and videogame related. Basically, you PM JD or me on the subject you want discussed, and we do it.
The name of the show?
2 FAT BASTARDS AND A PINBALL!
We will probably do the first show in 2-3 weeks. so go ahead and name your subject, like:
- restoring a game - metal polishing - touching up a playfield - just talk about a specific machine or brand - history of a game - rules ... whatever you want! It's your forum... and it's your show!
And no... this is not a competition with what Clay is doing, which is awesome. Clay is the man. This is just a more interactive approach to complement what is out there right now. if you guys enjoy it, we will do more.
Absolutely good idea!!! It will be fun to watch. But don't forget to produce segments for beginners like me, such as: how to change a lightbulb without electrocuting yourself, the best way to polish a playfield for the best result and without breaking any plastics, etc.
You need a shtick like "Shaggy". I would suggest avoiding using "Candy" though.
Any "Great White North" spoofs - like stubbies, beavertails, toques? Or Slapshot "Hansen Brother" taped up glasses....
Coin Door - mechanics / maintenance - getting them to work - adjusting for Canadian quarters.... Cabinet repair - removing isolation transformer - which one is the isolation transformer ....

That is the whole point. We know that the long-time collectors know lots of stuff, but lots of new guys and gals don't and are also afraid to ask...

Great idea...
Well, people that know me well know that I can't spend more than 2 minutes without being a goof. But yeah... I do plan on the occasionnal angle... JD does look like Dr.Evil, so I guess I could pass as Fat Bastard...

Dude... I am married. I don't think that bringing a hooker home and polishing a shooter rod between her breasts and telling my wife that it is for a documentary's sake would fly well with her.
I can change locks on a cabinet... but I don't want my wife changing the locks on the house!
Chances are that the only female you will see on the show is either a guest spot by Dos.Reboot or Medvet, or most probably one of my dogs. Sorry guys... no x-rated stuff.
I would be interested in seeing the best method to strip down a playfield for full cleaning or getting it ready to send to you for CC. I have never stripped a PF completely clean for fear that I would never be able to put it back together again.
If you need advice on how to publish and host a (video) podcast let me know. It's a lot cheaper and easier than you might think. The last thing you want to do is host videos yourself. Of course, you could just slap it up on youtube, but with a podcast feed it makes it easier for fans to get the latest episode, and for you to see stats. You can do both too.

Change the plug with the removed ground prong with a proper replacement, yo.
I think there's also double-checking the ground braid goes to all the spaces it should go - I've had one where it was missing from the cabinet to the head. The veterans know this stuff, but not the new guys.

I can do it for you if you are worried... I just charge extra for it, but it is done right.
