Actually "adapt or die" it's pretty much a proven strategy over however millions of years there's been life on earth.
For humans to think they have that much control over their environment is nothing short of hubris. The climate has been and will be changing on a periodic basis until the earth's core collapses again....
...but that's not to say we shouldn't be trying to be good stewards of our environment since we do have a significant impact none the less.
Of course we have to adapt, but if the opportunity is there, we should try to prevent crap from happening. Hearing some of the comments, you'd think the solution was to move the masses away from all the coastal lines. That would probably end up being more expensive then any money needed towards creating a green industry.
"The Final Score" was the first although it didn't play in theatres it was shown in just about every high school in Canada as an anti-drinking and driving film in the late 80's.
"The Long Weekend" rolleyes - really, really low budget semi-horror flick (I think I raised something like $300,000 at the time to shoot it). You won't find this one in the video store anymore.
"Curtis' Charm" was my most successful film, based on a Jim Carrol story that I licensed for Director John Lecuyer (who I discovered and helped launch his career), won an Honourable Mention at the TO Film Fest. It can still be found in some obscure video store collections. It was made after the tax investment incentives disappeared - but ultimately I lost my shirt, got screwed by the Director and a Co-producer, nearly lost my mind, and was my last foray into the feature flick arena. I stuck to corporate and educational video after that (until the previous recession anyways) before going on to Televiion Sales and New Media Director with the now mostly defunct Alliance Atlantis.
All we had to worry about when I was 12 was the threat of being nuked by the Russians.... (in Vancouver also, and we fished off the docks and beaches of Horseshoe Bay and Spanish Banks....)
Why listen to some stuffy British dude when you can listen to MEEE!

Well done you carried yourself well.
The interviewer on the other hand..................................................... with his extremely long pauses............................................... in the middle of sentences............................................. was quite annoying.
He must have gone to the William Shatner school of speaking
I hate always being negative but I just want to say one thing about recycling. Putting your recycling in blue bins and out on your curb does 0. Sure, it makes you feal good but where it goes from there is what is important. Like anything recycling there needs to be a buyer. If there is none where do you think it goes?? A holding bin in the sky? Scrap metal is really the only true recycling. Why? BECAUSE THEY OFFER YOU MONEY FOR IT. I've seen what happens to some recycling materials...and thats all i have to say on that.
And no, i don't recycle household items. Only metal, aluminum, copper, oil and batteries.
And yes I believe in global warming. I don't believe it can be stopped. Although I think we have increased the speed in which it will happen. Nature will find a way.
