Does anyone know where you can purchase new or used standard sized pinball glass in Edmonton?  The local ops haven't been too helpful in this respect.  I'm inquiring on behalf of my sister's friend.  Any help would be appreciatied.

This post reminded me.... I'm also going to be looking for a good source in Toronto/Mississauga/Burlington/Hamilton, I need something like 5 or 6 new standard size and a widebody glass.  Any ideas on good prices or places to go (either precut or to get it custom done) in those areas too? What would a fair price be in Canada (what is it at Starburst?)  Thanks!

There was a TOPL member that was trying to organise a glass buy.  I think he needed 2-3 more sheets commited to before he could place the order, and if memory serves correct the price was either $35 or $40 per sheet of standard width tempered glass.

I had signed up for at least a few sheets myself, but I think he still needs more.

Thanks Menace,

I am having some trouble with my TOPL membership lately. I tried to change Yahoo IDs and the new membership isn't approved for some reason, so I' stuck in limbo and can't search the archives.  I tried to post a request, using my old email address, but if it doesn't go through, can you find me the contact?

Many thanks,

Your TOPL post went through ok, and Andrew contacted me this AM about your post.  He said he was going to get in touch with you, and probably order the glass at the end of the week.  I'm in for 2 sheets @ $40 each.

Got it, thanks D. I'm in for 6 sheets, possibly delivery.  Markham is oh so far!    What do I do with the old glass (not all of it is safety, I'm thinking).

Your mistake is who you went to see. Local ops don't carry glass. Go see a local glass place. Pinball glass is a standard thickness (I forget ... 3/16"?) of tempered glass. Simply bring your old glass or just the dimensions you need, and go preferably with rounded edges to avoid any cuts.

I went to a local place last year and paid 45$.

Go to any glass shop in edmonton and order what you need

Quoted Text

Playfield Glass Size.
All pinball playfield glass is "tempered" glass. Do NOT use "plate" glass in a pinball game!

    * All the above games (except where noted below) use the standard glass size of 21" x 43" x 3/16". This size was used on most pinball games from the 1950's through WPC.
    * # - These games are "super-pins" with wide playfield bodies. These use 23.75" x 43" x 3/16" tempered playfield glass.
    * Safe Cracker and Ticket Tac Toe used 18.5" x 36.5" x 3/16" tempered playfield glass.
    * Slug Fest, a WPC pitch and bat game, uses 23" x 35 1/4" x 3/16" tempered playfield glass.

The size of the glass covering the translight on nearly all WPC games is 18 7/8" x 27" (Safe Cracker uses 18 7/8" x 19 1/2). The glass thickness is what most hardware stores call "double thick" glass, which is about 1/8" thick. Tempered glass can be used for the translight, but really it is not needed there (unlike playfield glass which must be tempered!

Thanks Sparky/Mrhide,

I told this fellow to go to a glass place as well and I gave him the dimensions etc. from Clay's site also.  I'm not sure why he is having problems getting this done.  I guess he should try a few other glass manufacturers.

Just thought I would post to see if anyone was selling new or used glass in Edmonton.
