Sounds like a good idea to throw 2$ each in... as long as nobody comes for the money and it doesnt starts a fight Sometimes people can be weird when some money is in sight..
As for the rules, you guys are more used to tournaments than i am.
Only thing i know is that the games were set on tournament mode at JD's last time (which means i made the Grand Champion score with no extra balls John.. i know that hurts Can older machines be set with no extra balls as well ?

Play for charity.. I am sure Sparky knows of one or two.
Rules are already written up. I will read them at the meeting. It all depends on how many participate. If you want, I can post the basic rules I have so far.
“The M.A.A.C.A. Pinball Cup” for the tournament Grand Champion “The Multiball” award, for best team overall “The Gottlieb” perseverance award, for the player with the lowest score.
Teams are made up the most equal number of players as possible, preferably teams of four players. The teams will be made up with a simple draw. No pre-made teams to favor some people. For example, if there are four teams, the order of the draw will be 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4… until the teams are made up. If it so happens that there are an uneven number of competitors, like 18 for example, there would be 2 teams of 4 and 3 teams of 3 players. To be fun, give your team a name.
The number of teams will determine the number of pinball machines played for the tournament. For example, 4 teams = 4 pinball machines. If more machines are available than necessary for the tournament, a draw will be made to determine which are played. MACHINES THAT HAVE A TOURNAMENT SETTING MUST HAVE THE MODE ACTIVATED. Any machine that doesn’t have this mode is fair game!
A minimum of 1 game per machine is played by each player. If there are fewer than 5 teams, 2 games per machine will be played, or unless time permits and people want to, all teams play 2 or more games. The totals will be tallied up using a “score multiplication factor”.
“Score Multiplication Factor”: A competitor playing a machine with roll-over of 999,999 would be disadvantaged score-wise compared to another player on a machine scoring near 1 billion, so basically the scores on the 1st pinball machine would be multiplied by 1000 to match evenly both machines. This will be determined once the machines are picked.
Each game must have a neutral referee present. This referee must ensure that the rules are “followed”. No nightsticks or baseball bats needed. Rules are listed below.
M.A.A.C.A. Grand Champion: Player with the highest total.
Once the scores are tallied up and score multiplication factor is made, the player with the highest total score wins the cup. That simple.
The Multiball Award: Best team
This will be awarded to the team with the best total. For a tournament with teams with uneven player numbers, each team with one player short will have their average score done, and added to their team total as a “ghost player” to even out the playing field.
The Gottlieb perseverance award: Lowest total.
The winner of this award is the player with the lowest total score. It is not meant to insult or laugh at anybody, but to encourage even unskilled players to participate.
RULES!!! (Aww mess…)
A referee will be checking each game played to see if everything goes fine. Mostly to check for a game malfunction of some kind, but there to warn if rules are not followed. If another person is being overly disruptive, he may be expelled from the tournament if the administrators and the disrupted player see fit to do so.
All DMD pins must be set in tournament mode if it is available.
When a competitor is playing a game, there must be no disruptive behaviour like yelling at the player, no pushing, bumping or slapping the player, no leaning on the machine, or anything that can bother the player. Talking and joking are OK (making him laugh is also OK!!!, just don’t go overboard).
If a minor game malfunction occurs that doesn’t advantage nor disadvantage a player, signify it to the referee who will see what to do.
If a ball stays trapped, a player can either try to get it unstuck at his own risk, or ask that the glass be removed, and the referee will place the ball where a player can resume his game.
If a major malfunction occurs during the first round on a machine, and it cannot be repaired, a player vote will be made to either have the teams play on another machine or simply ignore the scores made on that machine for all teams altogether.
HOST HANDICAP!!!: 10% of the total score of the host of the tournament will be deducted in order to “even the playfield”. If they don’t like it, they can kiss my a**! ; ) Their team total will be made AFTER the deduction is made! (Nice try!!!)
Players must refrain from playing the machines with greasy potato-chip hands or after they have picked their nose, scratched their a** or given a wet-willy, for safety and hygiene reasons!
Every player must have drunk at least one beer… 0.5 counts.
...If anybody can think of more bureaucratic bullshit to put in here, gimme a shout!
