Well, This was in a game that had a Coil lock on, then near as I can figure, somehow the problem kept traveling up the circuit... Not good.  Game no longer powers up beyond GI lights. I haven't been to see it yet, but I know someone I trust who did.

Hmmm, Any ideas??

Dave

Doesn't make sense. Usually the transistors are the weak leak and shield the rest of the circuitry. At the very least I would expect a coil lock on problem to be limited to the driver board. I would start checking voltages first.

Sys 11 doesn't have a separate driver board, it's all one board. You likely have a blown PIA chip keeping the board from booting.

Currently Owning:
Vids- Road Blasters, Road Runner, Joust, Golden Tee 2005
Pins- Back to the Future, Theatre of Magic, Joker Poker, Grand Tour, Hyperball

Previously Owned:
Vids- Far too many to list

That is my feeling as well, But which chip, and since they are all kind of linked, would it take out more than one?

I don't think it should. If you know what coil was locked on and you have the schematics, you should be able to trace it back to the affected chip.

OK, That is good to know. But what would cause all this?? I am only getting the info passed on to me, but was the game Over Fused and no one is telling me? That seems like the only way to get that deep isn't it?

If the board isn’t hacked & has no battery acid damage send it out to Clive 88.00 + shipping:

http://webpages.charter.net/coinopcauldron/brepairs.html

It's not a quick fix but these boards are usually hard to find.

Hmmm, The price seems reasonable! I will go that route if something else doesn't pan out. Any idea of his turn around time?

Battery leakage could cause these symptoms.  Just repaired a Bad Cats not long ago with that problem.  The acid shorts out the PIA that's below the batteries.  The RESET section is also below the batteries and shorting any of the components there will prevent the board from booting (GI on only).

You'll have to actually LOOK at the board to determine whether it's acid damage or blown components.
