Quantity or quality? Right now I'm looking around at my collection which has grown to 11 machines, you can see them in my sig. I'm thinking of never getting rid of my Tommy, HS, Aztec, maybe moving F-14 and Pinbot and probably hanging onto my T2. That leaves Genesis, Flash Gordon, Mr & Mrs Pacman, Meteor and Monday Night Football, and if I ever find a bg for the mnf, it'll probably stay, its a cool game. So, 11 pins, takes up alot of space. It's a trip having all of them but its a size constraint. If I want to buy a decent pin...like a used Spidey, STTNG, Family guy, TSSP, etc I'd have to move 4 or 5 of the lesser titles, one by one and try and hang onto the money, then I can buy a newer pin.
Advantages will be,  more space, less to fix, less to break down, easier when I move. Disadvantages are...well, less pins to play!
What to do? It's so hard getting rid of pins I like so much!

I like quality but, yes pricy. "A"titles would take up less space (you would have to sell quite a few to get one)
I hear you when its time to sell of some machines.. I'ts not easy but you would end up with something much  better
my .02
Good luck deciding

You know Pins are great but any good pin collection needs some vids to help offset the "arcade" feel...

You need somthing along the lines of a Ms Pac Man Machine...classics, or even better maybe a 48 in 1 in a classic cab...

Now who has a Ms Pac for trade ...hmm damn I think he has 48 in 1 and 60 in 1's too... who the hell was that guy

In other words, if you were given, let's say, $10k, would you buy a few A-list games or a bunch of B-listers? It's a personal choice. For me, I want to get as many awesome (IMHO) games into 5 slots as possible. At the same time, I want at least one system 11 as balance. It's nice to take a break from 30 minute LOTR sessions by playing a 3 minute game of F-14. At the same time, my pinball budget grows over time, so I get to swap games I get bored with for even more expensive ones.

Quantity or quality?

Stan

Why not both?  I like having lots of games, it adds variety and games that wouldn't fit well in a small collection have a great place in a larger one.

Games like BSD and T2 and Black Knight and JM which wouldn't always work in a small collection I find work great in collection because when I get tired of them I move on to spending time with ST:TNG, or TSPP or LOTR.

I get financial constraints that might not allow you to have both but I'm up to 15 games and only plan to continue moving up from here.  If you can swing having both quantity and quality I say go for it.

Ahhh.... the struggle of collecting pins.  For me it's always been about both until recently, with a few exceptions.  In my earlier collecting days I would pretty much look at any pin that crossed my path.  Now that I have managed to obtain a number of my 'wanted' list I lean more towards quality, but that's where the exceptions come in.  There are a few titles (like Star Gazer) where I forgo quality as it's tough to find them in any condition.

Along the way I've had to sell many of my games to fund (space or $$ or both) other titles, just the nature of the beast. (and I've missed every game I've ever sold at some point)

I tried Mayfiar a while back and they didnt have it, its an old list they have up there. Unless they've found another and updated it. I'll go check again but I dont want to get my hopes up. Well then, I guess I'm off to check, thanks for thinking of it.
