Well, 4 years have passed and MAACA is still here! Unbelievable!!! When Splitskull, JD3 and I started this whole thing, we never expected for it to last so long and be so popular!!! Even when we started the website, we were not expecting much, but 4 years and almost 800 (!!!) members later, we are still going strong!!! Thanks to all of you!!!
For those who wonder, we 3 started this group on May 16th 2004 and our web-god MacPhreak joined along shortly after. We were complaining on RGP that the local scene was cery quiet and even a bit hostile on some points as people didn't know where to go for things or even just to buy a machine. We got together for the first time, and decided to make it a monthly meet (hence the meetings we still have!). Just a few guys who love games, getting together. Well, when MacPhreak got the website running, it caught on like wildfire!!!
In a matter of hours, our very first member, Azatotht, signed up... and less than 2 days later, the Gatineau-Ottawa region made it's entrance with BZM as our second member and Frosken our third!!! And the rest is history!!!
I consider myself priviledged to be a part of such a group, and even more so to be able to consider you all as close friends!!! So a big thanks to all of you for making MAACA what it is, and I can tell you that I will make sure that MAACA is around for as long as you guys want it to be!!!
Congrats on hitting year 4! Fantastic resource, fantastic people. I've met a ton of collectors thanks to MAACA and had the privilege of visiting some fine collections. A great place to share the addiction and learn from others.

WOW 4 years already. I Love this group nice bunch of people always easy to deal with.
Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.
feels longer then 4yrs. maybe thats cause i never bought as much as i did before i join this darn group.
keep up the good work. was one of my happier days meeting sparky and he given me the info on the group. i was number 300 to join. that wasn't that long ago.
This group has led to my biggest source of debt, ... next to my mortgage !
I figure I've spent over $25K on this "hobby" , (... and I'm sure that's just a drop in the bucket compared to some other members I know....) due almost exclusively to machines I've bought from members on this forum... [NIB TSPP, NIB LOTR, HUO TZ, RFM/SWEP.1, Joust, F-14, Pinbot, RS, ... ]
Congratulations guys !!! It's been a great 4 years, and looking forward to many, many more
If it were not for this meeting place, I would have never met all the fine folks that helped me get a few 'project' pins off the ground. SO, thanks to all the fine folks that frequent MAACA as well !!!!!! It takes a good crowd to make a forum successful ... mission accomplished
So how come it's always the same 5 guys who post all the time !
Just kidding....
...but I'd be curious to know the total post percentage of the top 30 posters, versus the other 770 !
Nice work guys... lots of very useful info over the years (...and some awesome deals too ! )
Here's to another 4 years !
CHEERS !
Steph
Well, here are surprising stats:
- over 153 members have over 50 posts
- over 500 members have been active in the last 6 months, not including only on the day they registered ( we have TONS of members that consult our forums but don't post )
- we are worldwide, our farthest member being in Australia!!! We also have a solid membership in the US (hey Firehawk, go WINGS!), a growing fanbase in Europe, and we even have a member as far as Thunder Bay!!!!! Love ya Adam!
- our click counter goes up by 50% if you compare by month from the previous year to this year... for example: April 2007 = 130,390 April 2008 = 209,087
- new membership growth has exploded in the last year... we are averaging a new member every day... and we aren't even posting on RGP for that!!!
- and no, contrary to what you may believe, it isn't much work to run this site. You guys do great by running it yourselves! For us, it is still a labor of love!
Happy 4th Anniversary to MAACA and its great admins !
Congratulations, great work, amazing and useful site. Nice dream and vision brought to reality.
'Sharing the passion/fever/disease'. Yep ! Like chips, cannot stop at just one machine
Flicitations et longue vie MAACA and all its admins & members.

Always great to see that the site's founding member is still as passionate for the hobby as ever.

I'm floored by the incredible sense of community all have shown and am thankful to be a part of it. i guess with any community, its members certainly deserve a lot of the credit along with the founding parents of the group so all of you should take a bow.
Personal thanks for all the help you've all provided with my newbie pin questions, for the opportunity to FINALLY getting my first pin (thanks Brett!), for Sparky going WAY out of his way to help a new guy he didn't even know with his mame project, and the list can go on and on.
Finally, a special thanks to those who host the monthly meetings and welcome into their homes the Maaca membership groups. I'd never seen anything like this before, so huge thanks.
tell me why I had to be a powerslave? Complete MAACA-Wacko!
