Hi folks

I have access to a high end Xerox printer and I'd like to reproduce some of the broken plastics on my HS. Is anyone here good with the part after the images have been printed on special medium (cutting, polishing, protecting etc)? I'm in Ottawa and perhaps we could work something out for further repros down the road...

Cheers

Alex

If you thinking of selling down the road, there's the licensing part that is a challenge.   CPR has licenses for all theirs.   Not sure how the get the license though:

I'm interested to know what media you would use to attach the repro to the lexan plastics (why go acrylic when you can go ultra tough!)/.  I'm in the process of starting a similar process myself (just bought the scroll saw to make the cut-out easier and already have the sanding station.  But I am hard pressed to decide between various cheap / expensive ways to create the adhesive backed imagery and white backcoating.

Been there done that..  I print with a photo printer, on self adhesive sheets that I got online.  The image needs to be reverse printed since you will stick it to the underside of the plastic.  Cut the plastic, stick the picture, then you spray a thin coat of white primer.  You're done.  Watch out for fingerprints!!

Fosken can comment on the result (I did it for my High Speed).  I thought it was pretty darn good.  The edges will never be like the original as they were die-cut back in those days.  No amount of sanding will give that look/feel.

Xerox has special plastic sheets with a adhesive side that they sell in 11"x17" size. If I can pair my access to technology with someone with great plastic skills, then we migh have something there!

I sent an email out to these guys and to my astonishment, they said a plastics set for HS would be available first quarter of 2008!
