When speaking to Jim Knight at Allentown in May, a number of us expressed our interest in having a reliable source for Bally/Stern repro power supply boards. GPE's board is top-notch, we explained to Jim, but Ed has trouble keeping them in stock. Jim asked why there was demand for these boards and I explained that they run very hot, usually have burned and hacked connectors and tarnished and burned fuse clips. Rebuilding them is a complete pain in the a** because removing the old bridges, fuse clips and connectors is extremely aggravating and takes forever. If you've ever had the pleasure of rebuilding one of these power supplies, you know what I'm talking about. Jim seemed interested in our comments and clearly he listened. I had a peek at Rottendog's site today and found that they've just released a Bally/Stern power supply board for $55 usd. http://rottendog.us/BPS018.htmNow, GPE's kit included stand-offs, fuses, connectors and terminals. I don't know if Rottendog's board includes all of that, but the fact that something is available for a good price is good enough for me. Stern lovers of the world, rejoice! |
