Hey all,

Well, I have decided to start putting money aside for the next pin, and thought I would make it a bit funny and depict my progress. I used one of those thermometer images and made up a "pin-bank" to see what I could get. My goal is a TZ, and I put pins on the gauge judging by approximate value... makes it interesting. These are not necessarily pins I want... just some that came to mind... I will update for the hell of it regularly... I guess I am bored.

Current status, 1% (a mere 30$). Its a start... don't expect an awesome progression!

hehe ... i like this idea!

also, good for you to be saving up to buy a pin, as opposed to borrowing money to do it. it is hard not to take a loan to buy the perfect pin for the perfect price (i've personally been weak in the past), but doing the right thing like you are doing builds both character and equity.

A-HA!!! THIS is where I was smart...

1- I moved my mother in my basement... I saved a house + she pays rent + she babysits my son so no babysitting bills!!!  =   + 10%

2-  My roof is OK, but plumbing is now fixed, and my house was evaluated 75000$ over what I paid... = + 20%

3-  I married my wife on a cruise in Jamaica.... total cost of the wedding = 1400$ not including cruise and it was incredible. = + 5000%

What sucks too is that I have a potential amount that I could put in, but I probably won't... My boss gave me a Grand Prix ticket for Sunday... awesome seating, near starting line ($$$) ... but the funny thing is I don't really care to go, and I rather simply sell the ticket, but then again 2 other co-workers are going, so unless I bullshit my way out, I will be going.

...Unless someone makes me a crazy offer...

sell the ticket!!! f1 racing is all well and good but those ticket prices are completely insane. i'd throw it up on craigslist then you'll be in SoF territory easily.

I'd look at the tickets if I wasn't going away. As for your thermometer analogy I would have to put HH below the zero mark. That's because it would have to be a cold day in hell before ever owning one.

I think that the thermometer for you personally Sparky is a poor analogy. This would be a better one since you could go through your complete cycle on it of acquiring pins.

Well, I have TZ at the top, but it could be another or others. Depends what is available when I hit the goal.

I think you've been at this game long enough that if TZ is what you truly want then you should hold off buying something until you can obtain one. TZ is a classic and will probably end the cycle of flip flopping pins for some time if you have your sites set on one.

There are enough other collectors around to get your fill of play on other machines that aren't a priority for you to own.

Well, TZ is a keeper for me, but unfortunately I don<t make THAT much money so if a title I want pops up when I am ready, then I will go for it. I have a list of 15 "keepers" that I will look at when the time comes.

I'm not so sure I'd want a TZ over a ToM, but then perhaps it's a theme thing... ?

I dont know, i never played ToM... but i was a TZ non-believer.

I always thought it was overrated, played it a lot at other people's place and never got into it (i always seemed to play endless balls making no points..). So i decided to find out and bought one... i never seem to enjoy games as much when there is a lot of noise and people around.

I now changed camp and i'm sure it will be here for a long time ! GREAT GAME ! I really enjoy it and nowhere close to be bored yet (ok ok its only been a month but you know me...)

ToM's real purdy. TZ is real purdy. I just find TZ probably has more X factor than any other game and the toys are great.

My only recommendation with TZ is, buy a nice clean one where everything works 100%. Owning one with even minor issues can be a pain in the a** and you'll end up cursing the machine more than playing it. Just changing the rubbers or that beast is a job and a half.
