What are the special areas I really need to look at on this one? I got a chance to play this one once but not enough to really know how it worked, but I absolutely loved it right off the bat...which I had had more time to play it.

The Crypt Hole is usually banged up. There is a cliffy protector for it - so not much to worry about if the hole is small. On well used machines the hole is bigger than what cliffy can cover. The below image is about the maximum the hole can be...
you have more then the set you are sending me? one of the other ones fell off as well.
2 sets in total... and since I wont be buying a TFTC, might as well have someone enjoy them. Besides... I owe Firehawk a favor... he sent me a lockdown bar that came in very useful.
Sparky, it looks like I may take you up on that offer for decals, as my machine doesn't have any.
I just picked up the TFTC. I tried to look it over in a timely manner but I think I missed stuff 'in the heat of the moment', and thus I think I paid maybe a couple hundred too much. I gues you live and learn.
The crypt hole is about the size of the one pictured above, maybe even slightly bigger. Is it worth getting the cliffy protector to cover that mostly or no?
The handle is cracked and broken (didn't notice this at first) and there's a piece broken on the head mount above the switch assy, didn't notice that either since it was to the right and just didn't see it.
It needs a good, thorough, teardown and shop job. There's a couple lights out but I think that's the extent of it in terms of the playfield and working condition. I will go through it probably tomorrow much closer with the manual in hand and through the tests. I guess I should have done that there. I paid 1400. I am thinking I probably should have paid 12 or maybe even 11. It's also an import, didn't notice that either at the time, and I'd say the cabinet is about a 7. It's got some good sized scuffs on the outside head, not so much on the main cabinet body though. I am going to probably replace the coin door with a blank door since they're cheap.
It's alot of fun though so far, and it's a mini-project for me. First thing of business, does anyone know where I can get the 'handle' part of the plastic over by where you fire the shooter? The head appears to be easy to find, it's on marco specialties at least. Not the handle though.
Feel free to comment on my purchase. I do believe I overpaid. I guess chalk that up to still being new for the most part to this. Good thing is nothing is wrong with it and any tidying up can easily be handled for cheap.

Congrats! I'm sure the pros would pay less for a TFTC, but I paid more than $1400...
For the hole, you just need some easy to mould/sand epoxy wood filler. You have to build the hole up first anyways otherwise the cliffy will deform where the hole is. The blue is pretty easy to match. I'd get the cliffy more for cosmetics...
Thanks for the help. I sometimes start stewing about my decisions that have been made and get pissed at myself . I guess I just like my stuff nice, but I don't like to pay the big bucks for the ones that are already completely fixed up. I'm sure after a good shop job and a couple pieces here and there it'll look ok.
I guess the most important part is it plays well, at least from the things I checked. WIll detail check it tomorrow (probably should have went through every single thing at the guy's house, but I'm antsy...and a slow learner apparently lol). I didn't want to say no, what can I say?
Something cool, on the way home I got stuck in a traffic jam, and some guys pulled up in the lane next to me and the guy recognized it was a pinball machine and we started chatting about it while sitting in the traffic jam. That was cool. I guess pinball is all around us!

This is the only machine I've owned twice.. My second was HUO (with topper of course) and I sold it for 2000$ (before the current pinball recession). My first was average and I sold it for 1550$. It's hard to tell with a quick description but I think you paid an OK price but not a deal.
You won't find the handle It's a regular door handle so you may be able to replace it with something similar from a home renovation place. Just get the correct size for the spacing of the mounting bolts.
Post some pics!

I'm also gonna get a blank coin door for this machine. Does the same blank door fit DE machines as Bally/Williams? This is my first non Bally/Williams machine. Even if it was a coin slotted coin door, would the same ones that work in Ballys work in DE? (I guess I could take one out of my other machines and try it, but I figured it was faster to just ask).
Are there any other parts I "CANT' get for the TFTC like the handle? For instance, the big drop target, can i find one of those? There's a little wear on mine.
Off the top of my head (not staring at the machine right now) to get it looking 'restoredish' (is that a word?) I would need the following (and this is going all out, mentioning the side rails and lockbar):
1. Door Head - 30$ 2. Door Handle (if possible) - N/A 3. Coin Door - 25$ 3. Rubber Kit - 18$ 4. New Side Rails (left one has wear toward the hand area) - (Can I find these for DE black?) 5. New lockbar (wear on corners) - 55$ 6. Misc - 30$
Nearly all of that is cosmetic stuff, but I like my stuff to look nice.
Tonight I'm going through it maticulously and ordering some schtuff...

You can still find the decal for the tombstone (item GS-TFTC98 at Bayarea). I doubt you'll find the assembly itself..
