Maybe in 92 ? I know the Leafs were 7th and they did get to host St Louis who were 8th

But hats off to the Habs didn't think they stood a chance against Washington ... knew that they'd get done in by Pitt .... there's a reason I don't go to Vegas to place sports bets ....

I will rephrase... it hasn't happened since the new points system was introduced in 1994.

ROUND 2 FOLKS!!!   ROUND 2!!!!!  What is wrong with some people?

There is always some bad apples. When I was walking downtown last night, everybody was chanting and high-fivin’ each others, nothing wrong there.
There will always be people taking advantage of a situation to cause trouble.

Yup. It is a group of 30 or so that tried to get something going. A friend of mine was there and he said that the police were actually great, high-fiving some people and being very smooth about it all, and thank God they reacted quickly.

And apparently, the rioters were actually shunned by lots of people that said that they didn't deserve to be there and it was blasphemy to wear the team jersey while performing such acts.

Contrarily to what McMany people think, Montrealers are not a bunch of savages.

  My tummy still hurts.

It does raise an interesting point, though.  So far 11 'wins' have occurred, and 11 'losses' have occurred... why is Montreal always a 'worry' for rioting, win or lose?  What's in the water there that brings out thugs who want to ruin it for everyone?  Why don't those same type of thugs live in Ottawa, when they lost, or Chicago, when they won?  If it's not the hockey fans then is it just a gene pool of people in Mtl specifically?  Hell, I can remember back in the good ol' days when the Leafs actually made the playoffs, and even won a series or two (I'm really thinking back far right now) and no riots...  So wussup Mtl?

Huh!  I stand corrected.

But I tell you.... my tummy still hurts.  Some of the comparisons they were making between Halak and Roy lead me to believe that the Cup is coming to Canada this year.

Agreed. I was at Young and Dundas when the Blue jays won in the early 90's. People were trying to tip the ttc bus over, guys were grabbing girls in he wrong places... Fights and looting took place. There will allways be some low life's who will want to start trouble.

I'm sure the Montreal police will be prepared and the good fans / locals will point out the bad apples to them.
