Hello all,

Some of you may have seen some of my posts in the past about my Segasa Casino Royale.  http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=467 This has been quite interesting but also quite trialing.  Believe it or not I can't find anything on this pin, no one owns it except for a guy in Holland.  It is now working like a new one but my backglass is broken and my cab shows some water damage.

One thing to state about the Spanish when they made this baby is that they cut cost by using particle boards for the cab and not good old plywood.  So the cab was a bit more fragile.  Anyhow I need your inputs on this since I will be making a new cab for it I came up with the idea that I may as well convert my pin to something else but..................what????

I call upon all you crazy dudes out there to help me find a theme that could help me make my baby better.  Please take a second to look at her on the IPDB link above and let your "neurones" do the work.  If I am to make a translite I may as well go nuts.  The playfield is in excellent condition and I will recoat it but I don't want to modify it too much if possible.

Any ideas

tks

Gilles

If it's such a rare pin, then why convert it? Try your best to preserve it for the future.

To convert is easy... to restore is more fun.

Ok, this is still my first pick but how do I restore a broken backglass that is missing a piece?  As far as the side art on the cab everything is possible and I have an idea or two but I am running out of steam on the backglass and to top it up the company seem that have made two slightly different backglass and the one you see on the database is not exactly like mine making the copying that much more fun.

I like the restoration part of this hobby I really do but when you can't discuss your pin with anyone it is kind of

Obviously, if you can find the alternate backglass, use that. Otherwise, be patient. Network with other collectors at shows and hopefully they have one, or know someone, that can scan it or something.

You're also just missing a corner. You can get someone (or do it yourself) to redraw the artwork using the computer and print your own backlgass. The artwork looks relatively simple.

ask this guy if he has close up photos of the one he has for sale.  that would get you in the right direction to make a new one.

I guess I should have given more info.  First tks for trying "gorydeath" but this link is dead I have tried it in the past and can't find anything on it unless I am doing something wrong.  As for reproducing the backglass I am working on it and I am coming along OK but I have to learn photoshop as I go.

I guess I have to be patient, I will munch on that.  I appreciate the feedbacks.

take care

Personally, I say forget the nah sayers and do what you want. The game isn't worth much, so I really don't see the point in "restoring" it to original. Nor is is popular, so it's not like you are destroying a classic. Why bother trying to find an original backglass? Is the game really that much fun that you never see selling it? If it is truely a keeper, restore away; otherwise.....

I think a James Bond themed translite could work. You could leave the playfield as is and create a translite for the backglass -- perhaps using imagery from Casino Royale.  You could even take it further and come up with something for the cabinet. Both of these "mods" could be undone by the purist if you ever decided to sell it.

Pretty much anything you do for the backglass will be an improvement over the lame "original" it came with, so have fun.

Just my .02.

meh, I feel your pain.

I have a mars trek, and like yours, the particleboard cabinet is a little fragile, brutally heavy and i think more trouble than it would be worth to restore.

I considered doing a simple art conversion... MARS-TREK could easily become  EVIL-DEAD which is a theme i would enjoy more.  but the more i thought about it, the themes i liked didn't really gel with the idea of a classic em pinball. and i ended up getting different pins.  Now Mars trek sits alone and unloved... at least until my Pinzilla project gets finished.

Pins:  TMNT (visiting Sparky)
Pinzilla (multipin project) (GOing to visit Terry!)

Vids:  going away... nothing but Mame is staying

tks TZ, I appreciate all opinions and your idea is a bit like what I was thinking but still debating.  The game is really fun to play but of course not the most exciting in the world and since I don't collect these things for the value I believe that keeping it alive under a new theme would not be that bad.

AXE.........my pin brother. Your machine, unless you don't already know, was made by the same company after they merged so no wonder you have the same cabinet.  I guess we face the same problems so let's see who comes up with the best theme or an original backglass first!

tks for the feedbacks and more are always welcome.

Well, I have made my decision...............I will convert it.  Sorry to those that prefer to restore but this machine is so uncommon that it will take years before I can find what I need and for those that have not seen the art on it well........... A three year old could do better

So, here is what I will do.  Since the playfield colors are green, light green, yellow black and red I will convert it to..........."The Leprechaum" Lots of art already found on google and I have started to produce the art for the plastic.  Since I have to make a new cab it will be perfect for putting on my new cab art.

I will produce a translite that will keep the same light set up on the backbox. All in all I believe it should be pretty good.  Of course I welcome any comments/suggestions good or bad .

Let me know what you think!

tks
