FYI, sameday quoted $290 terminal to terminal for a 4' x 4' x 5' crate at about 350lbs.  That was the measurement and weight given from the seller.

Yeah, but a BSD pinball machine is what...
250lbs
2.5feet,  by 4.5feet, by 2feet
Wrap it up in cardboard, tons of saranwrap, and pop it on a skid.....easy peasy lemon squeezie

I would expect the shipper to do a quick measurement and give an actual cost.  Who knows.

Yup, that's the same dudes hardcor sent with...their office is closed right now here. I thought $133 seemed too good to be true!

MEANING>>>>>that the dudes at the Ottawa port must be charging more then in Calgary! $133.03 is what HARDKOR paid.

You can buy a new car for $9999.00
You can also buy one for over $100000.00

Although both are cars, there's a difference between the two.

For the pricing discussed here:

1) crating (the one I'm sending is in a complete wooden crate.)
2) "dealer discount" (Dunno...maybe hardkor has an account with them thus better pricing? )
3) Weight (did the Calgary terminal actually weighed the skid??? Shipping a pin means pinball weight PLUS skid PLUS packing material)
4) Taxes (no provincial sales tax in Alberta)
5) Fuel surcharge (was there a fuel surcharge when the BSD was shipped?)
6) rate change (maybe the rates increased since )

As you can see, too many differences to state "oh! you're getting screwed on the shipping".

I think $220 is pretty good, 'cuz my Flipper Football cost me quite a bit more than that when it was shipped from Vancouver a few years ago...when there weren't affected by any fuel surcharges.

Hippo, get a quote tomorrow and post the quote.  It would be interesting to see if there's any differences.

Well, just got off the phone with them and:

Just the pin, wrapped in saran and cardboard = $73.37

Pin on one of their skids = $166.60

I should say that for the extra $70 in shipping, the crate would hopefully mean the pin would arrive in one piece and undamaged.

I meant the price difference between the skid and the crate.  I guess it's more like $90.

Hopefully it's not more than 350 lbs, 'cause it's more than 5-feet of heights!!!
