Anyone know what kind of power supply this is? http://www.arcadeshop.com/pics/spowers.jpgI cannot find them at the local PC stores (PC Cyber) and was looking for one as it'd be an easier fit in the machine. I could order from Arcade Shop - but wanted to search different options first... |

It's just a standard triple output switching power supply you'd find in pretty much any Jamma vid these days. (+5/-5/+12VDC)
Starburst carries them as well.

Thanks Doug.
Are they all the same- or should I look for something in particular?
I think on the Duramold its what is blown / not working. So I'd like to get a solid one (i.e., I'd rather pay an extra $25-50 to protect the boards its powering)... |

Quickest way to check if the PS is good is hit the outputs with a DMM. Fire up the game and test each output. As long as you're getting the posted voltage off each output, it's good.
As for protection, not sure what you mean about that. The only voltage that is variable is the 5V, and that would be the same for any PS of this nature. Just make sure the 5V is dialed in as close to 5VDC under load as possible. Beyond that, the only thing would be an incorrect installation by connecting the wrong line to the wrong V.

OK - I'll try that.
I've dialed in the 5Vs, but on 1 JAMMA game - with leaving the game on for 2 hours - the card no longer worked. I never thought to re-check the 5V at the time.
My only guess is that the power supply drifted and blew some chips?
The wiring should be good (I didn't do it), but I'm slowly rechecking that along the way. |

The PS could be on it's way out, and you could be losing one or more of the outputs. If for some reason the voltages drifter WAY out of spec there may be damage on the game PCB, but you never know. (the only way you know for sure is if it let the magic smoke out)

Those boards are too pricey to be making smoke signals with. I never saw nor smelt smoke. I was soaking the older JAMMA card, so went to watch a movie. Came back say 2 hours later & I just saw the "warning" sign on the monitor. And then no more video/sound from that card again.
What's odd is that "warning" sign must have been from the JAMMA card - but that card is dead now - only audio.
