Yup... busy day today... I worked on 5 playfields in all... Monkeybug's Silverball Mania (finished a couple of colors), SquidVicious' Centigrade 37 playfield (4 colors done... long process, really dry playfield!), Hyann's Meteor and Amazing Spiderman (I scrubbed both down, fixed inserts, and got ready for touch-ups), and Makak' Air Aces playfield.

The Air Aces was VERY dirty and VERY dry... as you can see on the pics, severe flaking around one plane, lots of dry-wear everywhere, filthy, but fixable.

I dissassembled it completely and put the playfield on one of my boxes, scrubbed it down and sanded some spots. the colors are quite rough... the blue is greenish, and most of the orange looks burnt.

Sanded you say? Yup... I made the wear spots somewhat largerm but now smooth. If you don't either sand them or fill the wear spots with bondo, you will always see a surface unlevelness even when touched up.

I also reglued all the inserts, as most were literally just popping out. Their glue dried out probably around the time when mullets were a good thing. Long overdue to get rid of the problem. Mullets on the otherhand, I can't do anything there... sorry.

I am putting up pics of what I started with, and a few pics of where I am at a few hours later... I retouched the orange, red, yellow and blue. I have to sand lightly the red, orange and yellow to blend the spots better, and then do the green and white. Once that done, I will do all the black lines and the fine work like the missing plane.

I am really happy the way the blue turned out. Took me 3 hours with the airbrush, but it is now nice and bright! More to come probably tomorrow.

If that's the one Hippochrome used to own, then I've played it. It was quite the fun game, it's a great looking game that the restoration should do justice.

Yes it is! I also have restored the Old Chicago cabinet he had. It is now looking like it did in 1976, new coindoor and all.

Well, I didn't want to post any pics until Makak was to pick it up, to keep the suspense! It came out very well!!! I used the backglass image to recreate the worn out plane on the playfield, and pretty much repainted 95% of the surface, as it was heavily dry-cracked.
