Girlfriend say we can have pins or vids in the basement because it will take a space and kids won't be able to play there...

Ok... we don't have kids... don't have plan for one right now, maybe in two years at best (or seeing my groing interest and future project talks, she will change is mind and give me a baby to fill my time
So I'm suppose to have an big empty space for the next 5 or 7 years (baby won't come alone to play in the basement for a long time, and after that he can play pins so problems solve!
Anyway, I will win my point when time come with a little man's logic

Does your girlfriend come with a worst excuses to not have a pins or new project? Maybe we can make a guide " How to survive girlfriend's logic to pinball for life"

If your girlfriend is so determined to prevent you from doing things that make you happy, perhaps it's time for a new girlfriend.

Girlfriend/wife/woman logic = Oxymoron

Your GF doesn't want you to fill the house with pins
because you'll never get rid of them when the kids come...

I should know I had the same problem...

When we renovated our basement (this was 7 years ago, before I got into the hobby),
I wanted a nice big space for a pool table.  The GF (who is now my wife...),
said I could claim the space only when the "kids" have outgrown their toys
and are old enough to play with the pool table.

Three kids later, this is  what my "space "looks like   (see pic below ...)

My youngest is 5 months old , so I figure it will be another 7-8 years before I get my pool table.

The morale of the story is that you won't win ...
Man's desire for toys is nothing compared to a woman's desire for kids...

In the end, I found some "other" space in the house (much smaller mind you )
in which I was "allowed" to have games.

If you the GF is "The One" , you'll no doubt need to find some compromise...

Good luck....

Steph
( ...still happily married after 7 years... )

It is always easier to ask for forgiveness, even if you have to do it a few times  , than ask for permission.

A friend wanted a Harley, he has 4 kids and knew he wife would say no. So he bought it and drove it home. She did not speak to him for two weeks, but now he rides and she has a covertible and everyone is happy.

she is only a girlfriend.  tell her is she wants to be bumped up to wife to give in.

i am lucky that my wife is really into it.  did have to fight alittle when the hobby had over a dozen pins in our shop and vids all over the place.

but as for a child.  we all have pics of our little ones playing our machines.  kids love them.
our little girl is only 7 1/2 months and she enjoys all the machine.  you start playing and she just crawls over and climbs your leg till you lift her up to play.  yestarday she was doing all the controls for magic worm (centipede).  all i did was fire and she did two full boards.   when i play hyper olympics she just gets a kick out of me with my rapid fingers.  she does try to do the same.  as for pinball, she just goes on top and chases the ball.  or sits over the small flipper on paragon and watchs it.

hope some of this might help.   give us all a heads up if you two come to a meeting.  maybe we will all bring our little ones and she could see and her for herself.  that our she might just get sick of our kids and tell you can have a pin instead of children.

A soul mate is someone that supports you and your interests (of course, you do the same I have a few friends going through divorces now that didn't choose the right mate the first time.

I'm lucky. My wife fully supports my interest in the hobby, although she doesn't enjoy playing pinball. I have three kids and all enjoy playing the silver ball.

Mind you, I was smart. When we got married I already had 2 uprights and said, "When we get a house, the basement is mine, the rest is yours". Of course, she said if they ever creep up to the main level, they are for sale and she sets the price ! Meaning fire sale price!

To get her on your side sell her on the kid aspect. Kids LOVE pinball. I have had a few birthday parties at our house and the kids go ape when they play pinball. For  most of them, they have never seen or played one before.

i was really lucky too, when i started dating my now wife, i already had a vid and a pinball, so she knew they would be with me, she hasn't "Loved" the hobby, and sometimes i'm lucky to get her to come and play pinball with me, but she doesn't hate it, and she's been supportive with all my other crazy ideas, i told her that i would get myself out of debt before i started buying more machines, and i've done that, and i told her they would always only be in the basement,

oh and did i mention i put in a jacuzzi tub for her in the basement bathroom? that made her happy too.

Time to find a new girlfriend if she has a temper like that. One of my favorites quotes is: "Women are like buses, there is always another one following the one that just departed".
Compared to your friend's girlfriend, my wife must be an angel, she has shaken her head a few times, but has never complained.
