So I have put my NBAFB for sale for $1500 on the usually selling sites and selling a pinball machine seems to become an adventure sometimes. Between the people that make appointments and do not show and keep stringing you along and those that want pictures from all angles, much time seems to be wasted for nothing. But my favorite is: "I will give you $1000 cash and pickup today". One guy offered $500 and pickup immediately. Personally I find these offers insulting, but I kindly reply with my best price and never get a response. By the way, my best price is $1350 if someone is interested. Does this happen to you guys also?
It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!

I get that as well... for example I had this guy keep trying to offer me a jpac for coney island jk
but honestly when dealing on forums its always gone well... its when I have sold things on classifieds that people seem to like to string along or offer retarded prices... I just smile at most of the reply's that are outrageous as it makes me have a good laugh
selling a machine must be the worst part of this hobby, like you say ...lowballers and tyre kickers are usually part of sale routine like me and a fellow member were saying last week sometimes its better to sell to a friend a few bucks cheaper and avoid all the B.S. than goes into a public sale... oh BTW ...Got pictures of your game???

I'll give you $50 , thats all I have " " for your ______ thats for sale for $300", " ..SOME PEOPLES CHILDREN HUH

Here's one answer I received from Kijiji Peterborough, when I had posted my fully shopped Bally Strikes and Spares on their site a few months ago. I tried to respond, but the email address did not exist:
From: Kijiji Reply (from youwanttoomuch@yahoo.ca) Date: July 8, 2009 9:19 AM Subject: Reply to your "FS: 1978 Bally Strikes and Spares pinball machine" Ad on Kijiji
You've received the following reply to your "FS: 1978 Bally Strikes and Spares pinball machine" Ad on Kijiji:
From: youwanttoomuch@yahoo.ca way too expensive
You can respond to youwanttoomuch@yahoo.ca by replying to this email
... and my machine was fully shopped, 100% working, and below book price.
Hilarious ! Right... Probably from that same person on Kijiji who wants fully working machines for free ! ...Heck, I pay good $ for non-working as-is project stuff !!! Oh well...
I keep smiling, buying, fixing and playing (and a bit of selling) machines, and dealing with good more serious but fun people instead
Cheers, - Sylvain.
Looking for 1966 Bally Capersville, 1967 Bally The Wiggler, 1981 Stern Viper, 1986 Pinstar Gamatron, 1986 Williams Grand Lizard, 1991 Williams Bride of Pinbot, and a few others. Cash or some trades available. Could also repair a machine of yours +/-$ if needed, in exchange for one machine on my want list, non-working/unshopped welcome!
I'm playing devil's advocate here but consider the following, especially for non-maaca posters:
- Not everyone understands the value of pinball machines, in fact most don't. If I had a buck for every time someone said "you paid how much for your pin?" with the idea that I way overpaid... Average Joe just doesn't know what these are worth.
- For those that do know the value, it's human nature that people want to get a deal, so they'll lowball but sometimes those same people will think the seller is highballing too so their idea might be to meet in the middle.
Yeah, there's always the flip guy who'd love to get a pin at half price just to turn around and sell it for a nice profit, but I think many would be surprised that a lot of the low ball offers are just based on ignorance, rather than someone trying to screw someone else.
I'm sure if I was a seller, I'd probably get frustrated too.
