I really like Pinball Magic and it plays very differently from Williams/Bally. Playfield toys are very cool and dot animations. IMHO, leave the others behind.
From a tech point of view, great to work on (altho haven't had to do anything major) and shop.
Sega - had Apollo 13 (where were you Necro when I was selling it! ) - it's fun and has lots of modes but 13 ball multiball gets old quickly. Very neat shots with the rocket launching and especially the moon gravity ramp. Video mode is difficult! (at least for me ). Only played a few of the other Sega's abit at shows so no real opinion on them.
Getting close to moving "you know what" out yet Glen???
I would recommend a modern day Stern or Gottlieb em. I would second the card themed Gottlieb's (such as Royal Flush/Card Whiz, etc...). Depending on what you're looking for, the Gottlieb's would be for quick games as game play doesn't last too long and they're usually very chalenging to keep the ball in play for more than 5 minutes. This would be a good fit with your more modern and complex games where gameplay time is long (if you're a good player ). The Sterns (depending on which one), will be even more complex and entail longer game play. People with ADD should stay away... Two extremes for you to pick if you want to really "mix it up". Personally, I would do both if I had the space.
Really and I mean really play CRAPcom before you get one. I have no love for anything they made. Ok, I don't mind Breakshot and it sells cheap, but I know I would get bored of it at home. I have played Medvet's PM over and over and I still find it dull. BBB does look cool and if you have the $$$ -- wait I think the price will DROP dramatically once the hype is over.
If you are thinking Sega, consider classic DE. DE has alot of great games. GNR, JP, and TFTC. You just missed a really nice TFTC -- Jim had a HUO one. Of course, you could also consider a modern Stern as Dino mentioned.
EMs??? Blah. Ok as a novelty -- this coming from a guy that has one -- but really not that great unless you grew up playing them.
If this change you are feeeling, means that a pin may be for sale, keep me in mind.
But hardkor is correct, take your meds again, there is no joy on the other side. Does this means Necro may also own a Stern one day for a change??
Capcom to me is like Pinball 2K, excellent engineering, but not great playing pins. Apollo 13 is OK, but gets old quickly like most Sega pins. DE, never owned one and probably never will.
It has been scientifically proven that light is faster than sound. That is why some people seem brilliant........until they open their mouth!
Ok a lot of speculation I may have lost my marbles here. I really haven't. Stern is still banned from the gameroom floor. I was more thinking along the lines of Pinball Magic (as horrible as it looks compared to ToM) or something Sega i.e. Godzilla.
I was at the guys place today that has the BBB coming up. BBB as unique as it may be, I can't help but feeling the game is no better a player than PM is for 5 times the cost.
Medvet, I am not sure which title.. cough nofear cough you are referring to?
I'm damn sure listening to Hasselhoff quotes is not part of something I wish to explore.
