Didn't you have the same "problem" with Gerry Gory?! why not give Sirtype the same legal papers?!
You traded off a machine that was worth more then what you get? that sounds exactly like when you traded me that beat up Solar fire (without a playfield glass on top of that) for my clearcoated pinbot... Did I ever complain about it?!(until now!) nope. I've just learned to be careful and to never accept anything without pictures from anybody.
I've never meet Sirtype but I know a lot of people who dealt with him and a lot of those I respect a lot but I would still, like anyone, see, touch and smell the machine before doing any deals because I too have been burned in the past. It's part of the hobby I guess.
If you have a valid complain because you really got burned and you want to involve us, please tell the whole story instead of "menacing" to leave the hobby... Cooke is right, we don't need the drama and that applies to anyone... c'mon! stop beeing a drama queen. If you want to leave, be gone and move on.
Best regards Phil

You're going to get "drama" in a FORUM....that's basically what it's about. This forum is only one part of MAACA. The opposite of "drama" is "indifference" and who wants to buy a machine from a site where the people are indifferent ? WHen all is said and done, I'll take a little drama with my forum rather than no forum at all !

You still go see it no matter what. No matter if he is your friend or not you get allot of supprise. They can explaine all they want to you but when you get it you notice it's worse. Not because he lied but sometimes the sellers have no clue..
Depends on how bad you want a pin and how hard it is to find ...
Life is like Pinball!! You never know where you will bounce or where your going but sometimes you have that one amazing shot But on the other hand you have those darn gutter ball where you just get frustrated.
Either it was an honest mistake (they do happen) or it was intentional deception. If it were me, and I was a seller that made the honest mistake I'd try to help make the customer happy, even to offer a full return. But I don't know the details of this case so can't comment on who was right/wrong, or if the seller has tried to offer after-sales help. I just wanted to add that all the responsibility should not be on the buyer's shoulders. The buyer 'should' be able to at least trust that the seller is NOT trying to actively deceive them.
While I agree that it's best for buyers to see machines before they buy, it isn't always possible. There is risk in purchasing from afar, shipping being one of them, but it does not give the seller the right to mislead the buyer.

I'm not going to get caught up in the argument of who is right and who is wrong as there is no point, not enough information is avaliable to pick a side.
But that being said, I have always hated the notion that it is the buyers fault for not doing the due-diligegance and checking out a machine. This is the only hobby I know where the buyer is the first to be blamed and not the seller.
Ignorance is not an excuse, if you don't know, don't claim to know either, saying a machine works perfect without actually knowing if it works perfect is lying. Everything should be fully disclosed, that way there are no suprises and no problems. If you don't know everything is working, then say that a simple "The machine seems to be working to me, but I'm no real expert and there could be something I'm missing" lets the buyer know what they may be getting into right up front rather then "Games works 100%".
I'm happy to say in all the machines I have sold I have never, ever had anyone ever come back to me with anything about any machine and I believe that is because I let the buyer know everything about the machine up front.
Also now knowing who the seller involved in this transaction is, ignorance is 100% not an excuse.
If you guys think some people in this hobby are a bit shady, then it's a good thing Kijiji doesn't have a rating system. I use it all the time, and yikes - what a whole lotta BS people put you through there.
1) "Saw your ad - are you open to offers*?" Offers = half of your asking price 2) "Hey, will you accept a used microwave, some comic books, and Canadian Tire money as a trade instead of your asking price?" 3) "Where can I see this item?" (no more responses to emails) 4) A) "I'm interested - please email me where you live so I can take a look" B) "Sorry. I found what I was looking for somewhere else - thanks anyway!" 5) "Does LCD mean flat screen?" 6) "Do you have any more pictures?" AKA - I'm not really interested in buying, just at looking from the comfort of my home. 7) "Can you give me the model number?" AKA - I'm going to base my decision on Google and CNET results. 8 ) "Does the _________ shown in the photo come with the item?" Usually when said items was noted as NOT being part of the deal.
And that's just a few complaints about BUYERS......let alone the sellers!!
MAACA beats Kijiji hands down. Sorry, off topic. Just needed to get everyone on the same side......sheesh.
We use a "rating thread" over at CGCC, but I've never bothered with it.. the way I see it, if you're an active member of a community with common goals and standards, you'll generally do whatever it takes to make sure everyone's happy.. otherwise, you wouldn't expect to be part of that community for very long (or at least, you wouldn't be selling to the community anymore -- word does get around*, after all!)
*That being said, I know there's a few on here I'll never deal with
On that note.. I joined this forum because I like turtles... errrrrr, Pinball. If I want drama, I'd watch Dr. Phil.

This is a really, really, really long thread with very little substance. One side made vague comments and the other side never had any say. Kinda like....
oh......
The Spanish Inquisition!
(and no, that is not really pictures of the MAACA admins)

And despite that, some people were quick to blame the buyer. Without enough info, nobody should be blaming anybody!

Hi EastSiderGamer ! Since there ' s very little people using Kijiji for selling pins in my area and it may be the add you refer to , i ' m in quebec city and i Had an add going for a Monte Carlo ( bally 1973 ) as for asking price " best offer " . It was in perfect working shape , but the PF had some ware to it , nothing major . I knew i would ' nt get the $$$ i was expecting for it on MAACA . When it ' s the case , i just don ' t use MAACA . As for now , i Have a firball II and a taxi that will go up for sale sooner or later and they may go on MAACA , even if they ' re not 100% . As for my comment about " depends how bad you want the pin and how rare it is ... " i got a centaur in a really rough shape , at 10 hres drive back and forward , across the border , that cost me $1200.00 .Then , i got a CPR PF for it that cost me $750.00 ( lucky me ) shipping included to ottawa at the bus depot , drove 4 hres to pick it up , a good excuse to stop by Medvet ' s place , play pinball and meet MAACA people . When i ' ll be done with the centaur , it ' s gonna be great and 100% . I ' d say it ' s the best way to be certain you get yourself a pin that ' s 100% ...
