I picked up a Gottlieb Circus today off a nice guy in markham, also bought a bally bingo off him but thats another story.
i got it for a good price and was told the gi works but thats it. this guy is a total em guy, he even fixes bingos but cant do anything with ss stuff. so i took it off his hands.
first off this thing is huge, about 2 inches bigger than my genie. the second largest pin, second to the hercules pin.
i know alot of you guys hate these wide body gottliebs cause they are slow. but if you wax them a few times and jack them up high there great. i personally love them.
The play field is pretty good. top is supprisingly nice, usually thats the first part to wear out. most of the touch up spots are easy to fix also its very dirty and the rubbers are all shot. its ovieously been sitting for while. so far all i see thats bad is one of the pop targets are broken as well as the wrong colour. i have a extra one for the time being before i order from pbr.
the back glass is in great condition, much better than my genie. i sprayed it with half a can of clear coat right when i got home. ran out tho so got to get some more.
the cab is in good shape, had a bar across the front in the past as well as dinged up, good for a respray.
I personally havent turned it on yet since i have ran out of room in the garage.
i took the driver board off  and turned it around to see a large part of the board burnt to a crisp under the transistor i believe. i dont know if its worth fixxing all the trace wires. i will have to start looking for a replacement maybe even a new one which are only 75$
hopefully thats all thats wrong with it, maybe a few fuses.
here are some pics

Buy from Wade:

And it's a Gottlieb System 1. It's never just a driver board and a few fuses. Start thinking about buying a new Ni-Wumpf MPU, a new Rottendog power supply and repinning all the connectors.

It's a System 80, not a System 1 dude!

Played the one that Otto had at the Toronto Gameroom show back in May,
and not a bad game actually.

Good sys80 info/troubleshooting here:
http://www.pinrepair.com/sys80/index.htm

These boards are not too difficult to fix, and parts are still available in general.

Connectors/pins need to be checked, especially on the MPU to driver harness.
The pins are often corroded/bad due to the battery corrosion in this area.
And, do the ground mod...

Cheers,
- Sylvain.

Heh! Whoops. Posted that before I had my morning coffee.   Well... the same rules apply! It's never just a driver board and a few fuses with Sys80.

Luckly enough this is my second pin with orginal battery that hasn't leaked yet so I'm gonna take it off today.  There seems to be a ton of mods on these units so I better get started. Does anyone think the burn is caused by the lack of proper grounding since the other one started to burn also.

Yes: in fact, the MPU to Driver harness is notorious for causing burn of drive transistors and coils (w/overfused)
due to bad corroded or broken pins mostly. The ground mod is an extra assurance of proper ground
equalized between the power supply, MPU & Driver, in part to correct the weaknesses of connectors & design.

great machine.  yes its big and its a tie for it being the second biggest.  space race is also the same size.  i have owned that one as well.  also owned a genie a couple times as well.  i think genie was the best playing machine out of those three.  but would own the others again.
  enjoy
