Well, when you start encroaching into their lives, or space in the mutual residence, it obviously becomes a problem.  I wouldn’t want her to get a whole load of dogs for example without my input (and “response of no”)

I think you missed the part where I said:

assuming it isn't doing anything to harm your family or life.

And Good buddy is only talking about pin number 2, not pin number 20.

Also you can't compare pins to dogs, dogs are not commodities, their living creatures with needs and requirements.  The amount of effort and money required to take care of 1 dog is exponentially more over the lifetime on the animal then the cost of a TZ.

Sometimes it happens.  Wife wanted a kitten and came home with 2. So when I came home with 2 pins it was a wash  .  Even tho one of the cats is a little brat  (the female go figure)  .

My Wife is a Tyrant!! She says "No Pins in the Bedroom, The Bathroom (although we tried to get the US Marshall shooter in one of the bathrooms!   ) and no pins in the Kitchen, at least not for very long!" So far... I haven't had Pins in the Bathrooms or Bedroom...

Thanks,  Dave

Oh, back on topic: I operated machines for a few years, the big key was locations, but not for the reasons you would suspect. Locations where you get to know and enjoy the company of the owner are a Joy to have Pins in. While it becomes a great visit while servicing the machine, it often takes hours instead of minutes! Bad locations are ones where when you are trying to service a game, everyone wants to stick their head and hands in the game and ask a million questions, or things like "Ooooh, Look at all the money" that kind of crap.

The big key is cost of games, sort of. I had a No Fear on a location for a couple years, it was the one that came from out there a few years back, I forget the path it took to get here. Anyway, that game made me the cost of the game every year it was there out of my cut, and then when I got out, I sold it for the original cost of the game. I was pretty happy with the whole deal. Oh, Game was Faded to Death and had wear in front of the flippers or Sling (I forget which) when I started and was still there when I sold it. I believe the game is still in the same location and still "Earning!"

I also bought a NIB WPT for that location when Starburst was blowing them out. Ran it for a while, it never caught on, but still looked fine when I pulled it. Sold it for my cost again.

Overall, it was a positive experience, could you do it for a living out here, sure, but you would need a lot of locations and really keep on top of it. When a game slows down, swap it with something else. Oh, don't forget, they are Heavy!!

I think Alberta laws are different, so your mileage may very!

Dave

Thanks Dave,

I appreciate the posting of a positive experience.

I think you are right in that the people you deal with at the location are key moreso than the location. I also think having fun games on location is critical.

After reading your post I may have to give it a try with just a machine or two.  Thanks.
