I'll volunteer for the first hosting.   The "sooner the better" as all games are working now..., the longer we wait, the more likely some issue will come up...  ...hmm hijacked my own thread...ah 'tis the season to be merry - no PM to sparky.

Not as easy as LOTR ...

*sigh*

, you have the strangeist logic, I'm sure in that 4 billion attempt of TZ you must have LITZ multiple times, let me know when you reach Valinor, hell if LOTR is soooooo easy by comparison if you can LITZ multipile times during a single game ot TZ, you should at least be able to do valinor multiple times in the same game......

Sounds like allot of buyers/sellers remorse on your part, which is fine LOTR isn't for everyone, but don't tell me it's easy, LITZ is not a difficult achivement and compared to Valinor it's like a cake walk.  Next your going to tell me TSPP SDMWM is the easiest thing ever

Adam,

I'm comparing ball time.

That's my definition of easy.

if only I knew what SDMWM  meant, I could tell you it's the easiest thing on earth

Why. is the competition too tough in Montreal?    For sure you can join...., I think medvet is the president as she initiated the thread!

I beg to differ... ask anyone who attended the meetings on which we had tournaments... granted it is nothing like a real tournament, but I rarely finished out of the top 5. And may I point out that I beat out pretty much everyone from Ottawa at the Starburst championship?

Ok... ego off.

No... I just never managed to get it off the ground in Montreal. Even the tournaments at meetings (mess... even the meetings) are pretty much dead.

I agree with Phil here... I also rate pins by ball time and not on how many modes there are to finish. Sure, TZ is in no way comparable to LOTR in ruleset, but to be honest, I rather a pin that kicks my a** than one where I play for 1 hour on one credit and still don't come close to finishing the game.

We tend to forget the golden principle of pinball... the score is what is most important.... not how many modes you finish. The machine doesn't give you a replay when you finish a mode... only when you reach a certain score. Same goes for initials. Same goes for tournaments.

Me, I personally am not attracted to a pin with long play and lots of modes. I rather a pin on which having a ball in play for 5 minutes is one hell of a feat. Maybe it is why I rather older pins. They were designed to kick your a** and make money. No super gadgets to keep people coming... just hard-a** pinball.

We'll I guess if that is your measure for how easy a game is, then yes LOTR has long ball times, but buy that definition I could hold the ball on my right flipper for 30 mins and the game would be the easiest in the world

Bueing the curious bastard I am, I decided to look at my audits, yours will be flawed since the game hasn't been in your posesion since it came out of box, but I'd be curious to see what your audits said if you cleared them today and played the game for a month.

These audits are since the last time I updated the software, so unfortuantly not since it first came out of the box.

People who play the machine are myself, my Fiancae, and people from TOPL, here is what my audits looked like for ball times:

Total Plays = 1,670
Avrg Score - 27 mil

Ball Times:

0 - 1 min = 382
1 - 1.5 min = 98
1.5 - 2  min = 105
2 - 2.5 min = 85
2.5 - 3 min = 69
3 - 3.5 min = 77
3.5 - 4 min = 47
4 - 5 min = 84
5 - 6 min = 71
6 - 8 min = 107
8 - 10 min = 78
10 - 15 min = 106
15+ min = 136

Avrg Ball Time: 5:23 min

No compare that with my TZ which audits were reset when I installed the 3rd magnet mod, only thing is that this isn't a great comparison because LOTR has Extra Balls on and TZ doesn't but I'll put them up anyway:

Total Plays - 788

0 - 1 min = 47
1 - 1.5 min = 81
1.5 - 2  min = 101
2 - 2.5 min = 88
2.5 - 3 min = 63
3 - 3.5 min = 66
3.5 - 4 min = 50
4 - 5 min = 70
5 - 6 min = 48
6 - 8 min = 63
8 - 10 min = 25
10 - 15 min = 26
15+ min = 5

Audits in the low range are pretty comparable, when you get into the longer games times LOTR clearly has more but again I think if extra balls were enabled I thik the audits would be more comparable.

But really to look at the acutal numbers, of 1,600 LOTR plays only 136 reach over 15 min, that's only 8.1% of all total games that have really long ball times, so mabye not as easy as you thought

Curius Adam if you trap the ball all the time?   I see that as a "trick" to get good scores, but it bores the crap out of me - both in playing and in watching.   I don't have the discipline to trap the ball all the time.   Also, half the time I trap the ball, I lose it - so practice is needed.

I've never seen Sparky really play pinball, but I saw him play Wizard of War on the Duramold - yikes - impressive.

I trap the ball pretty frequently yes, I find the key to getting good scores is to keep things in conrol, flipping every time the ball comes to the flippers makes it harder to keep control of things.

Sparky is an above average pinball player, he did exceptonally well at the Canadian Pinball Championships and I think if he played in a more competitive situation with better players on a more regualr basics he would be an even better player.  I wish he lived in Toronto so he could be in TOPL as I like to play against the best players I can.

But again no extra balls, so a much harder comparison for longer ball times, if you threw extra balls in there I think the ball times would continue to be comparable.

No I hate Mac's there all a bunch of POS!
